Cask conditioned at Merton Beer Fest 07. Dark brown beer with red hue and thin cream head. More an Old Ale for me with an aged sweet & Sourness note. Thin on the palate but a definite hop finish. Alcohol is noted throughout with a sharpness on the tongue. chriso (7533) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 13, 2011
500ml bottle at home on 19 June 2011, best before October 2011. Very dark brown colour. Beige head. Lively condition. Dark, rich malty aroma. Also berry fruit. Maybe a little clammy. Fruity and a little woody on the palate. Also hints of chocolate and some herbal bitterness. Plenty going on here. Interesting and tasty. A very decent strong ale.

Chelmsford Beer Festival. Very dark brown beer. Tidy pale tan head. Smooth palate with a little fine carbonation. Smooth malt, slightly dark in character. Mild lacto. Pleasant fruits on the back end. Candy fruits and a touch of parma violet sweets. Very subtle coffee. Smooth finish. Liking these Nobby’s Old Ales.

Cask, Leicester Fest 08. Dark brown with a small beige head. Aromas are earthy and smoky with bitter coffee. Some liquorice. Flavours are rich coffee with some berry fruitiness. Viscous and sticky on the palate. A change to all the golden ales at this festival. hughie (3996) - Bedford, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - OCT 7, 2010
Cask, gravity, at Bedford Beer Festival ’10. Very dark brown. Ashy leathery aroma. Hints of sweaty car seat and marmite. Mid bitter finish. This isn’t the sort of stuff to be drinking at noon. But it’s good. ration (2238) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAR 8, 2013
