Cloudy golden color; small creamy head. The hop aroma is a bit sweaty and resiny. The mouthfeel is smooth, dry; some toffee flavor; strong bitterness. Not impressive.
Bottle, 22oz, courtesy of fonefan. It’s a clear, pale amber beer with a finger-thick off-white head leaving some lacings. The aroma has an underlying caramel sweetness, but it’s the hops that runs the show. Pine cones and grapefruit. Some peppery hints in the flavor, pine cones and grapefruit too, the malty sweetness are subdued but present. It’s full-bodied and semi-dry on the palete, finishing mostly bitter. A pleasant and tasteful IPA that I could easily drink a few of every now and then. 110319 brokensail (16486) - Dublin, California, USA - FEB 3, 2011
A: The pour is amber in color, maybe a little bit of orange too, and a white head.
S: The first sniff is not a good one. I get butter and corn? I stick my nose in the glass again and it’s somewhat better. I get bread and floral hops with just a touch of fruitiness.
T: Surprisingly, the flavor is fairly fruity. Some tangerine notes and lemon zest. Floral hops along with a slight earthiness and maybe a touch herbaceous. There is a bit of pine bitterness as well as bready malts.
M: The body is medium with a moderate carbonation. Not much of the usual bitter aftertaste going on.
D: This one seems to need some work, especially in such an IPA-dense area like Southern California. Dedollewaitor (16178) - Odense, DENMARK - MAR 19, 2011
