Bottle from the brewpub shop, as "Tomato Sparkling - the Sisilian Rouge from the Hokkaido." Nose of tomato, basil, pepper, wheat, and some distinct farmhouse notes. Dark pink color. Light sweet tomatoes, touch of basil, coriander. Thin body. This may be a revamped recipe for the titular one. Light, refreshing, and unusual. Not really like pizza sauce, nor as bad as the ingredients might lead you to believe. willisread (3703) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - NOV 23, 2015
Bottle from Tanakaya. Shared at a tasting. Pours a hazy pinkish-red with a small half-finger of soapy, white foam. Basil aromas on the nose with some wheat and tomato. Nice Belgian yeast undertones as well. Nose is very saison yeast-like. Light body, with above average carbonation. Sweet on the palate with that Belgian character throughout. Sweet finish with some light pepper. Not bad a all but the body is a little too light for my liking. Sevenlee (1846) - Central Coast, NSW, AUSTRALIA - MAR 21, 2015
Picked up a bottle at Tanakaya in Tokyo. Listed as "The Sisilian Rouge. From The Hokkaido ~Tomato Sparkling~". Pours a cloudy reddish colour. Aroma is tomato, pepper, spices and basically pizza. Taste is also quite a lot like pizza. Interesting but not really my thing. biirusaikou (2705) - - MAR 31, 2014
Black pepper, green tomato. Peppery tomato juice, yellow cherry, sweet finish. Quite a good surprise, a funky enjoyable experience. Theis (15151) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAR 30, 2014
Draught (as Sicilian Rogue Tomato Black Pepper) at Watering Hole, Yoyogi. Cloudy red - white head. Peppery. Light sweetness. Tomato juice. Light fruity. Acid. Boring malty. Thin. Didn’t really work for me....

5% A tomato & basil ale from Hokkaido at Kamikaze. A pinkish red very reminiscent of tomato juice with a thick white head of foam. It totally smells like a pizza! The flavor is a spicy clove beer with basil & tomato overtones. It was surprisingly good. shoulderbroken (4256) - Tokyo, JAPAN - MAR 2, 2013
UPDATED: SEP 24, 2016 Tap at iBrew. Called Sicilian Rouge here. Lots of red tomato colour. Small white head. Aroma is herbs (basil really) and tomato. Pizza beer! Bit wheaty too. Taste is hint of tomato, some bitterness, herbs again, slightly citrus, coriander. Quite crisp. Nice, weird, half is enough, but glad I tried it. Has just enough beer characteristics to make it nice. hazy red amber color. Nose is pretty close to a white with lots of coriander and soap with only a touch of tomato. The mouth is very rounded with lots of tomato and basil. Smooth, but never over powering. Very drinkable and enjoyable. Lingering tomato and basil finish. Nice beer. EdKing (2656) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 15, 2012
Tap in Craft Heads care of TimE. Colour is bright re/orange with white foam head. Nose is spicy, tomato, fruity. Taste is crisp refreshing beer with tomato and touch of basil. Backbone of crisp hop undercurrent and fruity sweetness balances any potential sourness from the tomato. Actually works well and is very drinkable. thebeertourist (5188) - Oslo, NORWAY - FEB 14, 2011
On tap at Craftheads, Shibuya. Pours a beautiful red orange colour with persistent head. Interesting spicy aroma followed by spicy and wheaty fruit flavours. Semi-dry. Refreshing and original.
