April 20th, 2014 - A Japanese take on a Belgian classic, the Noboribetsu Onidensetsu is a welcome sight in Tokyo, but I dragged this specimen all the way back to San Diego before giving it a try. The color is a lovely strawberry blonde, with a mattress of pearls for the head, and a deep, foggy haze, almost particulate and blended. The aroma from this pretty brew is soapy and rank, however, part soap, part rose, part rotting botanical matter, and a sickly sweetness that is very off putting. Thank goodness, then, that the taste is salvageable, and indeed, perfectly fine. A light and fuzzy carbonation couches a mild, light and refreshing blend of flavors including raspberry, cherry and strawberry. It’s not too sweet, but still captures the essence of fruit and beer in a pairing. But pity that wretched olfactory problem. willisread (3350) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - FEB 6, 2016
Tap at Watering Hole Noboribetsu Setsubun tap-takeover. Watermelon-colored rose pink with a small light pink head that lingers. Raspberry all over the nose with some earthiness. Light body but balanced with some malt. Average carbonation. Lightly tart finish with big raspberry flavors. Very nice fruit beer. biirusaikou (2705) - - JUL 3, 2015
Draught at Craftsman. Earthy fresh raspberry, floral notes, bit of tart, gentle sour finish. Nothing amazing but not bad for a local fruit beer. TimE (5817) - Tokyo, JAPAN - APR 17, 2015
cloudy, amber orange color. Mildly tart, lots of raspberries. Very malty, but overall fairly undistinguished Sevenlee (1846) - Central Coast, NSW, AUSTRALIA - MAR 21, 2015
Pours a hazy orange with pink tinges with a white head. Aroma is malt, very fruity with heaps of berries and some yeast. Taste is sweet of fruit leading to a yeasty finish.

Bottle from Tanakaya, Meijiro. Colour is unusual. Cloudy pink with yellowish tinge, thin white head. Nose musty fruit, raspberry, mushy strawberry, dryish yeast, earthy and mine rally. Taste is fizzy, soda water/tonic water, raspberry, musty fruit. Not great. Not much beer or ale character. KansaiBeerLvrs (5156) - Kyoto, JAPAN - OCT 26, 2014
5% on tap at Beer Komachi. 650 yen for a glass. A deep orange with a pink tiny to it, somewhat grapefruit like. It has a soft raspberry aroma. The body is a bit rough. The taste is actually pretty good, some earthy maltiness, a solid dash of raspberry but I also get occasional notes of popcorn which detract from it a bit. A lingering sweet berry finish. Overall, pretty good but it needs some more tweaking. GenkiGonzo (1092) - Kyoto, JAPAN - APR 4, 2014
Draught at Bungalow. Copper colour, some lacing. Sour fruit aroma. The fruit doesn’t come through very strongly in the flavour, but well balanced between sweet and sour. Got better as it went on. shoulderbroken (4255) - Tokyo, JAPAN - NOV 16, 2012
Tap at the Watering Hole. Orange red colour, small white head, tiny bubbles. Aroma is raspberry, not much else but nice enough. Taste is raspberry not sweet but not that interesting. Nice though. Slight sharpness but not that sour. Spritzy and nice texture. Ok. jonno (2762) - JAPAN - OCT 16, 2012
One of those ho - hum style beers that turns on it’s head as you get through the pint. Soft tangy raspberry and cream nose. Very fruity and a tad non beer like, but the flavours work well in context. More tangy than funky with a short finish.
