3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Vintner. Pours out a black color with a tan head on it. Smells pretty hoppy, plenty of pine and citrus notes with a little bit of roasted malt. Taste is hoppy and kind of thick - a little high on the carbonation for me. Some of the roasted qualities come though but mostly just a good bit of hop. Not a bad beer from these guys in Charlotte.
Draft. Pours black tan head. Nose/taste of coffee, cocoa, roast chocolate, piney citrus. Medium body. Dry finish. Ferris (15265) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 15, 2015
Draft - Piney and sweet roast. Dark brown with a beige head. Piney bitter hops with some decent roast. Tasty. ben4321 (6503) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - FEB 4, 2015

Aroma: The aroma is pine hops over citrus, some chocolate and roasted malts
Appearance: It pours a dark brown-black color with a light brown-sh-tan head and decent lace
Flavor: It is balanced between hop bitterness and roast/sweet malts, leans bitter on the close
Palate: The body is medium, it is pretty easy drinking, and has a dry finish
I thought this was a well-made and enjoyable Black IPA (or Cascadian Dark if you prefer). Another nice one from NODA.
Draft: pours very dark with a tan head. Aromas are nice and malty with a bitter piney background. Flavor is like nice bitter chocolate. Lovely. Busick (390) - Lake Wylie, South Carolina, USA - MAR 1, 2014
Wasn't sure what to expect! Poured like a stout but had a much lighter balance! Very tasteful and great black ale for a light brew.

On tap at NoDa. Pours a deep brown color with white head. Roasty, pine, hoppy aromas and flavors. Not bad. cubs (10635) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - FEB 5, 2014
On tap @ NoDa with jcnielsen. Pours a hazy reddish brown appearance with a tan head. Pine and chocolate in the nose. Citrusy butter / diacetyl in the flavor. Not heavy but certainly annoying. High bitterness. Pine and herbal hops. Finishes very bitter. Second worst beer here. arventresca (567) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - FEB 1, 2014
Draft at ecw northlake. Smells and looks great. Taste like a christmas tree. Drake (13726) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - APR 22, 2013
Growler from the brewery. Pours a hazy dark red brown color with a thin tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of caramel, roasted malts, nuts, herbal hops. The taste is mildy roasted malts, chocolate, bitter citrus and resin hops. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness. The roast is not so intense compared to other Black IPAs, which is pretty nice. Cask at the Black Friday Cask Festival, Triangle Brewing, Durham. Heavy cask pour, with a sort of unwavering sludgy look to the beer. Minimal carbonation but certainly seems to suggest that this brew is mostly "B." Soft leafy hops in the nose, along with more prominent malts. Sticky pine and molasses to taste. Okay, but not too memorable.
