Draft at he brewpub. Nice beer. Can’t really say anything that the commercial description already states. BuckNaked (1230) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - FEB 5, 2006
On draught at Nodding Head in Philly 2/3/2006: Medium-dark amber body, mostly clear when held to the light, with a small, light beige head that quickly dies. The aroma is faint sweet malt, light berries, with hints of earthy malt. The taste is mild, but does have flavors of light malt, caramel, grains, toffee. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, seems at times like the fermentation was stopped short. However, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with this beer in any respect - it achieves what it’s supposed to be. I’d go for another offering if I had to choose though. austinpowers (2831) - San Francisco, California, USA - FEB 1, 2006
Bit sour. Light like an Amstel Light. WTF? Not enough malt by far. A sad failure. Probiere (992) - Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 31, 2006
Mild syrup/fusel aroma, sherry-berry hints, some caramel toffee. Meh. Poorly attentuated. Meh. beervana (781) - Libertyville, Illinois, USA - DEC 9, 2005
On tap at the Nodding Head Brew pub, Philadelphia, PA. Clear dark brown Scottish-style ale having small white diminishing head. No discernable carbonation. Sweet malt aroma. Medium bodied that starts with lightly sweet malt. Slight off-flavor (oxidation product?). Finishes with slightly sweet malt after taste. No discernable hops and bitterness. A good drinkable malty session beer, similar to Bass ale.

Poured amber with a tan head. Not a bad looking beer. The head retention was descent. Very little aroma a bit of vanilla and caramel were present. Same deal with the taste. A bit tangy with a nasty aftertaste which I am still tasting right now. Pretty weak. MullMan (1099) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - AUG 2, 2005
medium nutty brown color, very light tan short foamy head. aroma is nutty, sour hop & malt. flavor is weak caramel malt, tingly carbonation. a very faint earthyness in the middle. finish is a little tart/straw. tangy aftertaste. this is a very weak version of the style. swirl (267) - collingswood, New Jersey, USA - APR 11, 2005
A good looking amber appearance with a tan head. A nice malt aroma that is followed with a smooth taste that offers some notes of caramel and vanilla. skisangelo (60) - Collingswood, New Jersey, USA - MAR 26, 2005
Deep amber color with a small tan head. Malty and roasty aroma. Light smoke and caramel taste with a hint of vanilla. A very easy beer to drink, but not a great example of a scotch ale. Very thin and a bit weak. Arnoud (35) - Hawthorne, New Jersey, USA - MAR 13, 2005
This is a scotch ale??? On draught at the Nodding Head. Reddish color with a thin head, chemically nose (perhaps a dirty glass?). Thin nutty taste, very cereal like. Absolutley devoid of any bitterness.... no discernable hops. Reminds me of homebrew.
