Draft pint at the brewpub. Reddish amber with a slightly sticky top. Caramel aroma. Tangy and tart, this is a well balanced, predominately caramel but with a nice tart hop bite. Very nice ESB. (#3190, 11/9/2007)

Firkin at Capone’s. Served at room tempature. Cloudy orange body with thin head. Aroma has a citrusy, malty, caramel aroma. Flavor has a slight hop bitterness, a little soapy. Smooth bitterness and a full mouthfeel. Gave me light burpy hops.

Zeswaft (1786) - Seattle, Washington, USA - SEP 15, 2006
Dark copper/amber color. Aroma is mildly fruity hops and a lot of malt. Flavor is close to the BPA but this is more malty. Quite creamy and smooth. Pretty good.

Draft, at Nodding Head on 7/24/09. Pours brownish-amber, topped with a small off-white head. Aroma is nice and a bit hop-forward, with notes of citrus nicely balanced by toffee, caramel, and fruit. Flavor exhibits nice balance as well; with good interplay between toffee, caramel, lemon and grapefruit. Citrus lingers on the palate. Very tasty, and quite easy to drink.

Enjoyed a pint of this one on draught at the brewery in Philadephia, PA. Pours to a beautiful, bright, deep copper color, with a thick, white head, and a good carbonation. The nose on this beer is excellent, with excellent pale and caramel malt aromas, paired with some fruity esters, and citrus hop aroma. The palate is firm, with excellent pale, caramel, and nuttty malty flavor, paired with juicy, estery fruit flavor. This beer finishes with more excellent pale and carmel malt up front, then ends with a fruity/citrus hop bitterness that cuts the malt sweetness, and slightly lingers. Wow. Nodding Head brews another very impressive beer with The Wumpus. Delicious, flavorful, yet so, so drinkable. A great session brew. If time would have allowed, I would have closed Nodding Head the night I visited.
