This beer has changed ABV erratically during the years of production. Started at 7.5%, subsequently 6%, it stands actually (2009) at 9%. Only the brewery knows whether it will stay at this level, since they never bothered to signal differences, and always considered it to be the same beer...

BartC (727) - Lichtaart, BELGIUM - JAN 5, 2010
Deep red brown beer with a small beige head. Complex sweet / herbal aroma. Licour like. Sweet malty and parfumed flavor. Very difficult to describe but not pleasant at all. I’m not even going to finish this beer.

berlinoise2go (689) - NORWAY - DEC 13, 2009
Bottle, 33cl, from Vinmonopolet, Oslo. BBE 2012. Label says 9% ABV, so this is maybe a different version of this beer. Beige, eager head, quickly diminishing. Deep clear maroon colour. Aroma of yeast, honey, caramel, brandy. The alcohol is very well hidden, manifesting itself as a warm, velvety mouthfeel, which is also pleasantly fizzy. Sweet, lasting taste of honey/caramel and some fruityness, nicely balanced. Almost no bitterness. Very good.

gunnar (9094) - Sandnes, NORWAY - DEC 3, 2009
Bottle 330 ml from Vinmonopolet. Pours cloudy dark brown, with a big tan head. Sweet aroma, doughy malt. Medium sweet taste, dark fruits, plums, raisins, caramel. Full body, light sweet at the end. Nice.

MesandSim (7117) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 12, 2009
A Mes rate. Bottle at Chris O’s beer exposed tasting.
Mid amber brown colour with a thin off white head. Very fruity and malty. Good alcohol notes but that’s about it really. Faint fruity spicy finish with some late sourness. Blah.

Bragesnak (5394) - Aarhus, DENMARK - MAR 20, 2009
From Beer Mania, Brussels, Belgium. Bottled, 180309. Light brown with white head. Aroma of yeast and dryness. Flavor is malt with dried fruit and notes of spices. Buckweed. High carbonation

haukur (1957) - Reykjavik, ICELAND - JAN 10, 2009
huge yeast aroma. Cloudy brown with a huge head. Starts very well, but is a bit watery and bland. Ok to sample, but nothing I would buy. Thanks to my friend Simon for bringing this from Norway

Ethereal (2421) - Los Angeles, California, USA - JAN 1, 2009
Bottle at Chris O’s tasting, 26th Sept 2008. Cloudy deep brown colour. Overly sweet and bland with little depth. Far, far better Belgian Christmas beers are available!
