Ultra noire. Nez intense de chocolat et de liqueur de café. Corps intense et liquoreux. Chaleur d'alcool très sucré. Bonne amertume. Torréfié. Liqueur de café. Un peu fruité. Vanillé. Caramel. Chocolat fourré. Truffe. Légère touche de fumé. Un gros dessert. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Medium/heavy aroma of malts, caramel, dark fruit, chocolate, molasses, mocha, bread, roasted malts and coffee.

Opaque black beer with a slight dark brown head.

Starts heavy sweet with malts, caramel, dark fruit, chocolate, molasses and mocha; ends slightly bitter and dry with bread, roasted malts and coffee.

This beer is intense, complex and balanced. Insanely sweet flavour at the start with loads of dark fruit and chocolate. Not overly sweet, especially if you do not take too much at once. Had a four year old bottle, so the roasted malts probably are more dominant. Could have been thicker, but the flavour is great.

Bottle. Walnut cream, port wine, lots of dark fruit - plums, cherries, blackberries - dark chocolate coated wafers, espresso, tobacco and subtle pumpernikel. Lovely aroma. Lots of alcohol in the taste. Boozy, maybe not really thrown out of balance but still the alcohol makes its way through the body, essentially destroying any sense of fullness and flavour depth. The flavour disappoints, as it is essentially flattened down and simplified, a mere shadow of the aroma. Merely a good beer, while I was hoping for much more.

( 4 years old bottle) Aroma:roasted malt, soy souce, dark fruity notes.. Appearance:black color, small head. Taste:sweet, flavour of roasted malt, sweet chocolate, coffee and dark fruits, dry roasty finish. Palate:medium to full body, low carbonation. Overall:Tasty brew but even after 4 years of aging its not mindblowing.

Aromas of cough syrup and dead trees, coffee, cocoa and booze. Appearance is an inky black with an espresso head that dissipates quickly. Very sparse lacing. Taste is cocoa, charcoal, coffee, cough syrup, anise, vanilla, caramel, toasted oak and booze. Palate is thick and coats the mouth. It has a lingering roasty and sweet finish followed up by a light bitterness and astringency. Overall- Fantastic, not usually an Imp. Stout kinda guy but damn, I had a sip of this and had to have some all to myself.

Batch 894/895. Jet black color, tiny brown head. Roasted malt nose, bread, licorice, coffee, dried fruit. Rich roasted malt taste, coffee, brown sugar, hidden alcohol, bitter finish. Full body, soft carbonation, oily texture, warming alcohol.

ZodiacM (1260) - NETHERLANDS - NOV 27, 2016
Prachtig!

tandembrauer (1558) - Stavanger, NORWAY - NOV 23, 2016
Shared bottle at Cardinal, Stavanger. Pours black with light brown head. Aroma of dried fruits, caramel, dark chocolate, dark bread, alcohol, fruit esters, smoke. Tastes sweet, some balancing bitterness, umami. Slightly mouth feel.

mariuspoenari (2954) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - NOV 22, 2016
25cl bottle. Very dark mahogany pour, clear, with an espresso-coloured head that gives way to a thin lacing. Notes of chocolate, molasses, roasted malts, dark cherries, bitter cherries, brandy and roasted coffee. Full bodied, thick but not cloying, low carbonation and with a spicy and roasty bitter-sweet finish. The alcohol is there, quite nicely integrated with the brew, but still making this a difficult drink.
