Bottle - 500ml at Mondial de la Bière (Montréal, QC). Opaque black body with a thin beige foamy head. Robust malty/hoppy aroma with woody, licorice, chocolate, and spicy hints. Taste is slightly dominated by hoppy flavors. It carries oaky, yeasty, vanilla, and fruity notes. Ends with a long, warming bittersweet finish. Fantastic! Bottle. Pours Black with a small Brownish head. Aroma of roasted malt and cafe creme. Roasty sweet flavour with a bitter hoppy finish. Very nice. Rye always seems to gice a slightly unusual element to dark beers. Like fennel seeds in a loaf of bread. RumRunner101 (918) - Alberta, CANADA - JUN 12, 2014
Black pour with tan head. Intense roasted nose with some spice and dark berries. Flavour has burnt chocolate, anise and a big spicy finish with alcohol warmth. Nice.

Lovely rye edge, flavourful porter. Wonderful drinkability. Opaque black. Worth seeking out. RichardGretton (4770) - Leicestershire, ENGLAND - MAY 27, 2014
Bottle. Close to pitch black beer with a strong light brown head. The aroma is roasted with some maltiness, and the flavour is gently bitter and roasted with a creamy maltiness. Overall a nice strongly flavoured dark beer with roasted and creaminess.

Deep brown to black color with red hue, light brown head. Coffee nose, roasted malt, liquorice, hints of red berries, wood and alcohol. Coffee, chocolate and roasted malt taste, hint of alcohol. Complex and long lasting. Full body, oily and velvety texture, warming alcohol. AWISLguy (3109) - Wisconsin, USA - MAY 13, 2014
50cl bottle from Discount in Milwaukee. Continues to be the standard-bearer for Milwaukee area craft beer stores! Served colder than cellar temperature. Pours a very, very dark brown with a brown head leaving some streaky lacing. Aroma has dark chocolate, espresso, chocolate liquour, some hoppy grassy/grain. Further in the glass, some caramel comes in strongly.Taste is of chococoffee, liquid chocolate, that dry grainy rye flavor and some caramelly malt. Medium to full bodied, and rich and smooth. Finishes quite long and a touch to the sweet side of bitter-sweet with the liquid chocolate & caramel taking top billing at the end. Nicely dry presence from the rye and certainly roasty bitterness. A fine offering from 2 very solid "dark brew" brewers. tmm313 (55) - Georgia, USA - MAY 10, 2014
Super, and I mean SUPER, creamy. Seriously as thick as old motor oil. Kind of sticky. Light, crisp carbonation. Drying with a nice roasted bitterness. Taste delivers dark, sweet fruits up front. Big chocolate, roasted malts, caramel, toffee, coffee, and a little licorice follows. Creamy chocolate is the boss of this beer, but its other parts compliment it wonderfully. Beautifully balanced. Hoppy tropical fruit flavor pops in and out as it warms.
