Our 100th batch, brewed for the enjoyment of the brewers, but popular demand forced us to release it commercially. Most enjoyable in a comfortable chair in front of a roaring fire.

Recommended serving temperature 16°C/61°F Ingredients: Maris Otter, wheat, and chocolate malt; Columbus, Chinook, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

23,5°P, 80 IBU, 10% ABV.

Editor’s note: Even though the label says "Barley Wine" in the States, the brewery usually says it’s brewed to be an IIPA. The American label was supposedly a glitch. In Europe it’s sold as an IIPA. But to save the admin crew some time dealing with user feedback, it’s listed as a Barley Wine.

Dark brown color with small beige head. Nice aroma of strong malts, combined with caramel, pineapple and hint of alcohol. Strong taste of hops, combined with malts, sweet caramel and alcohol. Long sweet aftertaste which ends with alcohol. Medium carbonation. Overall this a very BIG beer with complexity yet delicious. Well done.

[email protected], from Alko webstore. Dark brown color with small light beige head and hazy liquid. Huge, balanced taste with dark, overaged berries like raisin and plum, some dark chocolate and sour malts. Ultra-wide taste spectrum and medium aftertaste with dry malts with dark fruits. Medium/strong body with light/medium carbonation. Overall, distinctive and high quality and dark product.Superb for Barley Wine style, a bit stale for IIPA. Could have more malts in taste.

mviljamaa (183) - Jyväskylä, FINLAND - MAR 9, 2017
Pours with a good light brownish head. Color is brown and dark reddish. Appearance is thus very appealing. Aroma has yeast, light orange and raspberry notes and a bit of malt. Palate is very nice, being well balanced between oiliness and dryness and the carbonation makes the palate very "centered" or dense. Taste is delicious having malt, blue cheese, some mint or mint chocolate and herbal liquor and has a very rich, long and sweet after taste. Extremely delicious. There’s a nice amount of bitterness adding some kick. Absolutely fantastic beer with enough complexity and elegance.

50cl bottle from local Alko, Viikki. Deep brown coluor with hint of orange/red. Small light brown head. Nose has sweetness, oak, alcohol, some hops. All in all a good one but still bit too alcohol.

Medium/heavy aroma of malts, caramel, orange, dark fruit, liquorice, chocolate, roasted malts, smoke and hops.

Opaque red/dark brown beer with heavy yeast and with a slight/medium beige/brown head.

Starts medium/heavy sweet with malts, caramel, orange, dark fruit, liquorice and chocolate; ends slightly bitter and and dry with roasted malts, smoke and hops.

This beer is intense, complex and balanced. Amazingly sweet flavour at the start, with mostly dark fruit and liquorice. Perfect finish with loafs of smoke and hops to back this up. Amazing appearance and palate as well.

Hazy, dark brown colour with some creamy, tan lacing. Slightly hoppy aroma with some pine, plenty of malts, caramel. Taste is full, lots of malts here as well with a bit of hoppy bitterness. Finish has a little bit of alcohol burn. Full and rich body, slick and oily mouthfeel, lowish on the carbonation. Very nice beer with rich flavours.

50 cl bottle. Dirty copper (heh) / brown beer with a relatively small beige head. Aromas are very bold. Citrus with peach and pineapple, caramel, malt, generally ripe fruit, alcohol, a bit of menthol. Thick fruity, very malty and hoppy taste, everything very aggressively at first, lots of caramel. Full body, full of flavors, but it feels a little muted. I can see why it’s been classified as a BW instead of IIPA. Quite impressive from a technical point of view how they’ve packed all of this into one beer, but from a sensory POV, I could do with "less is more".

metalspice (1055) - Jevnaker, NORWAY - FEB 4, 2017
Nesten svart med noen røde nyanser. Kompakt, hvitt skum. Røde bær, toffee, nøtter og litt syltetøy. Smakene følger duften med et snev av kaffe og sjokolade på slutten. Fin bitterhet og herlig munnfølelse.

ruigo (3088) - PORTUGAL - FEB 1, 2017
50cl bottle. Hazy dark brown with a small beige head. Caramel, bread, toffee and a bit boozy. Good!
