Editor’s note: Originally launced as bottle conditioned Kos på Groos as a festival beer for the Skral rock/pop festival in 2008. Spring 2009 it was relaunched as Blonde, tap only. For the Free Port Days in Kristiansand June 2009 it was sold bottle conditioned once more, this time with an extra addition of Cascade hops, under the name Porto Franco. Released on bottle as Blonde January 2011.

On the label of Kos på Groos: Kos På Groos nytes best avkjølt i sola mens man opplever god musikk.

On the label of Porto Franco: Øl har lange tradisjoner til sjøs.

English:Blonde Ale is refreshing anytime, but especially after working outside om a hot summer day.Serve at 6 degrees C and pair with seafood and other light meals. Nøgne Ø ales are bottle conditioned, so pour carefully if you do not want to disturb the yeast sediments in the bottle.

0,5l Flasche. Hellgelbes, naturtrübes Bier mit riesiger Schaumkrone. Leicht fruchtiger Geruch. Schmeckt nach Citrusfrüchten und leicht nach Weizen. Angenehmes Sommerbier!

Opaque yellow, smells of freshly mown lawns, grapefruit, lime and malty sweetness. The sweetness and fruitiness is also present in the taste, which is rich and complex. Some heavy polysaccharids drag down the total impression, something that additional fermentation could have improved.

Classic blonde with lots of vanilla, some fruits, hops and wheat. Offers a bit of a wheat beer with a bit more blondiness in. Very easy to drink and really quaffy. Definitely to recommend.

0,5l bottle. bread, spruce, floral, dough, alcohol, soy sauce, pale, golden, cloudy, minimal head, white foam, medium sweetness, very bitter, heavily sour, salty, medium body, sticky, fizzy, bitter. Reminds me of an IPA, but the aroma is kinda unpleasant (moldy?) and the taste too salty and bitter. The hops are buried too deep.

Bottle at home in London - picked up from Utobeer. Pours mostly clear yellow-gold with a large, thick white foam head. The nose has notes of tangy lemon, sourdough bread, mild Belgian yeast, hay. Light to medium sweet flavor with slight spicy yeast, some lemon rind bitterness, pale doughy bread, faint plastic, dirty hay. Light bodied with average carbonation and massaging texture. Simple finish with doughy, bready pale malts, some citrus, orange juice, minimal bitterness. Basic Belgian sessioner.

Overall good. Liked the palate, but taste wasn’t what I expected - too little. Absolutely enjoyable, but expected more.
