esox (1226) - Oulu, FINLAND - JAN 27, 2015
Draught. Foaming like hell, dark brown-amber, somewhat cloudy. Strong raisin notes when too cold, some herbal notes. Syrupy, toasted bread is more obvious when warmer. Dried fruit notes, as long as sweet herbal hops. Dryish malt flavor, grains, sweetish chocolate, somewhat herbal hop aftertaste. Medium body, frothy texture.

0,5l bottle. Dark, brown, with hints of licorice and raisins. Pretty standard xmas brew, albeit not labelled as such, but preferable to the typical dunkel or amber and dark lagers.

Location/Date:Bottle on 11/10/2014 split with Dave and courtesy of Dave.

Appearance: Pours a murky brown.
Aroma: Aroma of toffee.
Taste: Light bitterness, lightly toffee/nutty.
Palate:Light medium body, light aftertaste.

Summary: First off, thanks Dave. This beer is really exceptional. At 4.5, it has all the flavor of other Brown ales. If this came in smaller bottles, I’d always have it around.
