UPDATED: JUL 25, 2006 Bottle. Brown-red beer with dense, large, beige head. The yeast sediments gives it a hazy look, but it is no problem to pour it without the yeast if you like. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee/mocca and some floral notes. The taste has roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and a fruity hoppiness. The finish is as expected quite dry, and the bitterness stays for a while. My least favoured beer from Nøgne Ø, but a nice beer anyway. Goes well with walnuts and pickled silver-onions.(050912) (Rerated 060725) jtclockwork (16685) - , New Jersey, USA - JAN 25, 2012
Bottle. Pours dark brown with tan head. Nose/taste of toffee, chocolate, nuts, almonds and light caramel notes. Medium body. FatPhil (16355) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JUL 30, 2007
500ml bottle. (SOPP2007, Helsinki)
Dark Brown, almost black. Light creamy head. Odd aroma - lager malt maybe, slightly chemical. As it warms the roasted malt comes through. Tastes quite malty and has a nice sticky dense bitterness. Not sour enough to be a real brown ale, IMHO. A bit watery. Has a strange finihs - like freshly-sharpenned pencils - wood and graphite! Dedollewaitor (16174) - Odense, DENMARK - AUG 26, 2008
50cl bottle: Thanks to Yngwar. Pours dark brown with a off white bubbly head. Nose & taste is sweet & dusty of nuts & caramel. A bit thin palate. Ok! MiP (15920) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - OCT 26, 2004
Bottle. Fruity and slightly malty aroma. Dark chestnut colour. Quite roasted flavour, not sweet at all as I would expect from a brown ale. Aftertaste is bitter with some coffee flavour.

Bottle at Cafe Buitenlust, Oirschot. Dark brown color with a dark red glow visibly coming through, huge, thick, vast off-white head. Smells incredibly fruity, almost sweet, and like blossom. Tastes totally different: a bit roasty, malts, caramel and a lot of nuts in my opinion. A bit thin bodied, but a nice taste; like a brown ale should taste I think. Low to medium carbonation, low body. bhensonb (15338) - Woodland, California, USA - JUN 2, 2007
Aroma of medium dark malts. Clear mahogany color with a light beige head. Body is a bit thin, flavor is lightly sweet brown malt. There is some roasted, but not burnt, malt character. Almost creamy in a way. Reasonably moderate carbonation. After a time some stout aspects, maybe chocolate, probably coffee, show up. In fact the finish is more like a mild stout than a brown. Very, very nice ale. Theis (15152) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JAN 26, 2007
Bottle at home. Dark glowing red/brown - beige head. This it very smooh and very good. Nutty, caramel, berries, bread, malty, roasted malts, very high malty. Light but perfect hopped -> Shows in aroma and finish. gunnfryd (14954) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - FEB 3, 2006
Bottled off white head brown colour. sweet caramel aroma medium body . Not my favorite NØ but still a very good beer. Ratman197 (14952) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - FEB 21, 2008
500 ml bottle poured a clear dark brown with ruby highlights and a lasting tan head. Aromas of coffee, carmel, bitter chocolate and a hint of nuts. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of chocolate, carmel, light nuts and a hint of fruitiness with a smooth bittersweet finish.
