Thin tan head, hazy brown body. Dusty heavy roasted aroma with spicy, yeasty and herbal tones. Flavor is of roasted malt with hints of brown sugar. Fruity and spicy tones. Dry but thin in the finish. Definately not the best from Naked Island!

(on bottle) Brown as in "brown ale", really nice. Sents alot ofamerican sweet hops, right? The mouth is bitter/sweet; perfect balanced. Some caramel too, very nice there and a big chocoltaltly feeling in the finish, with a slight kick of hops. Prime example here.

ToolHead (266) - København, DENMARK - NOV 15, 2004
50 cl bottle. Served in Nørrebro Bryghus IPA glass. Deeply brown. Moderate, tan head, which gradually fades. The aroma is pleasantly, darkly malty. Harmonious. The taste is well-balanced, malty (roasted) and pleasant. The finish is a bit weak, though, and the mouthfeel gets a bit watery as the head disappears.

Hazy amber color with some of the hugest yeastparticles I ever have seen in a beer. Coffee and chocolate aroma, some what salty and fruity. Malty flavor with some vanilla, fruity notes, a bit salty biut still mild. Maybe a little thin.

Bottle at RBESG Grand Tasting 05. Chocolate aroma. Fizzy, aspirin mouthfeel. Slight choc flavour is rather lost below the carbonation. refreshing and clean only. Not unpleasant, but a bit dull.

Bottle. Nice red brown body. Frothy pale brown head which is mostly diminishing. Sweet chocolate aroma, quite heavy. Bitter, malty flavour. Tiny hints of coffee and chocolate in the finish. A little too much carbonation. Very dry finish. (At home, 29.05.07)

500ml bottle at the Brickskellar. 25% opaque, brown body with a dark tannish brown head, medium-to-fine bubbles. Semi-sweet caramel and chocolate malts instantly picked up, along with some toffee, tobacco and sweet nuts. Hop level is moderate, maybe a little heavy for a brown ale but very light overall, and there’s the faintest hop scent that almost smells like some dried wood. I don’t detect any roast, but the biscuit character is certainly there. Really committing to the nose can bring up some sweet cedar wood and black cherries, or maybe what I’m thinking of is cherry scented pipe tobacco, along with a sugared, caramel and cherry candy note. Body is average, proper for the style, with a mildly frothy texture on the tongue. A good brown ale, but I find the entire style a bit lacking.
