The culmination of all of our years of producing strong, dark ales. It is a symbol of our uncompromising attitude here at Nøgne Ø. We use only the finest malt and carefully ferment this beer by slowly feeding it more fermentables throughout the process. The result is brazen and brash, but after some maturation it evolves into a beer of balance and distinction. Rich, robust and dangerously smooth, this beer is certain to conquer the world.

Lubiere (14341) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 16, 2018
A deep dark stout with a thin mocha head. In aroma, beautiful sweet chocolate malt with light funky notes, light skunky sulfur, very nice and complex. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with loads dark fruits, molasses, plums, alcohol warmth, very nice and complex. On tap at L'autre oeil.

Eructoblaster (4516) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 16, 2018
On tap at L'Autre Œil (Gatineau, Qc). Very dark brown body with a thin, lasting, off-white, creamy head. Robust malty/hoppy aroma with brandy, peaty, and yeasty hints. Alcohol is noticeable without being too agressive. Its complex malty/hoppy taste carries bourbon, fruity, chocolate, vanilla, and yeasty notes. Ends with a long, strong, warming, bittersweet finish. Awesome!

500-ml bottle from binnys Lakeview. huge malty sweet barley wine roasty ashy nose, opaque in glass but not during pour, medium body, super sweet caramel, huge chocolate, hops in supporting role, so complex.

500 ml bottle bottled 3/3/2015. Got this as a birthday present for my brother, enjoying it together now as a boxing day treat. Pours completely black, very little head, very thick and oily. Aroma is very special, spicy, a lot of dark malts presence, a lot of grains, herbal and earthy. Herbal hops, intense cocoa, milk chocolate, some booze, hints of coffee. Big body obviously, thick and rather oily, smooth mouthfeel. Flavour is amazingly complex, sweet, really bitter, lot of cocoa, a lot of dark malts with herbal spicy notes, some hops. Finishes extremely long, herbal, bittersweet, cocoa, boozy. Wow! Amazing Imperial stout, definitely one of the best I've had, and not even barrel-aged.

Bygers (1185) - Oslo, NORWAY - DEC 25, 2017
Bottle 0,5l. Pours a dark brown colour with no head nor lacing. Aroma of alcohol, dark fruits, brown sugar, malts and chocolate. Same for taste with a warm finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500 ml bottle, batch #1383, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 16%, 100 IBU. Black colour, minimal beige head. Aroma of roast malts, coffee, leather, oak, chocolate and vanilla. Minimal carbonation, but the beer is not completely flat. Warming mouthfeel. Sweet flavour of roast malts, coffee, molasses, alcohol and dark chocolate, followed by fairly distinct bittering hops. Good stuff, but appears not perfectly balanced. Would profit from some more carbonation.

UPDATED: DEC 12, 2017 0.5 l bottle brought by Višnja 666 and Pilot Goran from Oslo. Thanks! Dark brown, minimal head. Roasty and cake-like. Black olives, leather. Caramel and brown sugar. Very sticky, sweet. Medium to full body, sweet finish.

Bardzo ciężki ale interesujący stout. W aromacie na początek kawa, kukułki, czekolada. W smaku bardzo podobnie - sporo czekolady, kawa, lukrecja, jest też wysoka paloność i wyraźnie obecna beczka. Dosyć słodkie z mocną paloną goryczką i długim finishem.

Draft at Billie's Craft Beer Fest '17. Black with a ring tan head. Aroma of licorice, dark chocolate, alcohol, booze and caramel. Flavour is heavy sweet. Full bodied with soft carbonation.

I had the 1st version of this a few years ago, and was able to score this in Seattle, and just drank it this past week. Like the 1st one I had, it blew my mind! Bold, strong with coffee and chocolate, but unlike all the barrel this and that everyone is crazy about.......this beer at 16 percent abv was smooth, and lingered on the palate with no bad aftertaste, or alcohol burn. Just amazing flavors that last through every pour (as I did mine into 5 oz snifters). Hands down a top ten world class beer that must be tried before you die!
