COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
There is so much fun involved in creating Dark Horizon. Once it ferments, everyone in the brewery are very enthusiastic and pay close attention. Is the yeast still active? Is everything OK? How does the flavours evolve? Dark Horizon is normally dark and velvety. Muscovado sugars provides good fruity aromas. The coffee is a chapter on its own. The green beans will first be treated alfa amylase, an enzyme brewers enjoy working with. Then we mash the green beans before drying and roasting them. This gives it the unique flavor Dark Horizon deserves. Share Dark Horizon with someone you think deserves it.

Bottle. Black. Roasted rubber, vinous tones, murky vegetables and some boozyness when cold. Warming up the nose softens, hiding the vinous sharpness, adding more espresso beanyness. But probably one of the most black and vicious aromas I’ve encountered. Full bodied, has sweetness but enough bitters to not make it cloying. Intensive ashy roasted flavours, super salty licorice. Surprisingly drinkable despite the abv. Overall a very dark, intensive salty roasty cocktail.

Alkoholia kylläkin on hieman turhan paljon.

Lovely presentation in a triangular box and red tissue wrapping the bottle. The physicists are looking for dark-matter in the wrong place. It’s apparently brewed in Norway. It’s as black as the ace of spades. Light cannot escape it’s surface. Enough of that :P Very thick mouthfeel. Aromas of coffee, chocolate, malt, molasses. Theres a lot going on. Flavours are a good balance of bitter and sweetness. Alcohol is well hidden. It’s a real thinker. Very complex. A thick, sticky brown precipitate lines the neck of the bottle and inside of the cap. This should not be tasted. Strong flavours of AWFUL with hints of FOUL hiding beneath DISGUSTING. Like licking instant coffee out of a urinal. I wouldn’t count this against the beer itself though, which is wonderful.

Bottle gift from SJ. I had the first edition of this and I am happy to say while tyhis is different, it still rocks. I like the addition of the heavy roast and moleasses. I still find it smooth, but with a bit more characteristics.

Poured from a bottle it is a black.beer with an ecrue head. It has the aroma of Bourbon and the taste is of roasted coffee and Bourbon. It has a strong chill after radre that resonated on the palate

Bottle @ Nordisk Ølhandel, Cph. Pours deep black with a small, creamy, beige film head. Aroma has chocolate, mint, elderflower, chili. Low carbonation, fat and creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has sweet malts, caramel, light coffee, dark chocolate, chili. Slightly burning. Very nice.

Bottle 25 cl. Now this is beer. Taste of roasted coffee, roasted malts, wood, smooth. Never drunk beer this strong with alcohol this well hidden. A brew that would suit pohjolan pidot.

UPDATED: NOV 7, 2013 Thx! to Kraddel. 25 cl. bottle sampled. Packaging is impecable. Pours lighter black with bordeaux hue, little head. Nose is very heavy, booze, syrup, molasses, almost vineous, brutal, soy, caramel, toffee, brutal. Taste is heavy on soy sauce, burned coffee, bitter roast, lots of coffee, booze, heavy roast, bitter roast, herbs, lots of bitter cold coffee, bitter, almost burning, herbs,... Totally flat. Nice but def. not on par with #3 & a bit too simple.
