Acquired in a trade 3 years ago, split 3 ways at cellar temperature today. Small bottle for a big tin.

A - Good cap whisp. Sounds full of carbonation but pours a small head. Pitch black and thick.

S - The aroma is pretty awesome. A lot of vanilla, coconut and dark chocolate fudge. Bourbon presence is big but everything is well integrated.

T - Taste is very nice. Chocolate, fudge, some oak smoke, char taste with a faded coffee bean and maybe some raisin. There’s a lot of flavor here. Well integrated and actually slightly oxidized but it’s minimal.

M - Thick and oily, tiny carbonation bubbles

O - I’m very impressed by how well this held up. A big beer but it really did well over the last 7 years. Fantastic but I’d drink it soon if you have a bottle.

Jet black in colour, espresso brown head that quickly disappeared as the alcohol took over. The alcohol in this beer is very dominant both in the aroma and the taste, but getting around this there were some deep dark aromatic tones to enjoy, dark roasted malt, dark ripened fruits and some burnt character. Very powerful in your face aromas of coffee, with dark prunes, raisins and possibly a hint of dark bitter chocolate.

Black with tan head. Moldy basement, spicy alcohol, leather and brown sugar. Spicy, roasted malt, vanilla, coffee and mold. Overall: great experience! Mold blends well with stout.

Black as midnight on a moonless night. Lukt av røstet malt, sjokolade, kaffe, lakris og sjokolade. Smak av røstet malt, karamell, sjokolade, kaffe, lakris, og krydder. Virker som at denne har hatt meget godt av lan kjellerlagrig.Vinmonopolet. Lokal øl-smaking på Bryne; 3xUntappd, 2xRateBeer & 1xNeutral.

Bottle from notes (also recently popped one). Pours a very dark brown to black color with a small khaki head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, dark caramel, dark fruit, raisins, dark chocolate, wood, blackberry, coffee, molasses, some alcohol but it is mostly warming, with a medium plus body. Solid, but can get just as solid with less cost.

Thick opaque dark brown, no head and lean tannins. Thick set liquorice, rich vinious dark malt and very very faint corn. Initial taste is dark pudding, lightly sweet and oily and middles more salty liquorice. Falls into a slick oily mouthfeel that masks the ABV smoothly. Finish is deep soy sweetness, rich roast bitterness smothered away for the linger and a dubious threat if that alcohol. Cheers Craig.

Bottle, Poncey Southerner Tasting

Bottle shared at Garvie’s - big thanks to the host. Pours oily black with a small brown foam head. The nose has lots of charred wood, iodine, dark cocoa, earth. Medium to big sweet flavor with rich earthy roast, more char, baking cocoa, burnt sugars, slight vanilla. Full bodied, chewy, with fine carbonation. Quite nicely balanced on the finish - especially considering the strength - with plenty of peat, cocoa, roast, earth, some leathery dark fruits. Very good overall.

Bottle at Craig’s. Pours jet black with a short-lived head. Aromas of liquorice, dark malt, tar, dark chocolate. Taste is toasted bitter, sweet chocolate, dark stone fruit, more liquorice, salty too. Lovely.
