UPDATED: OCT 7, 2014 actually says 17.5% abv on the bottle. pours black with dark brown head. surprised at the head for a 35 proof beer. smells sweet and choclatey. coca and a touch of coffee and molasses as well. feel is actually well done for such a strong beer. you can’t tell it’s strength til it goes down...warm all the way to the belly-right up to the point where any "hotter" would take away from it, but it doesn’t go that far. the only "bad" thing about this beer is the roasted malt flavors and hops can’t quite make their way throught the alcohol. quite enjoyable, but not quite worth the $24.99.

Herlig kraftig avslutning. Ønsker meg en til...

TEJA (3067) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAR 6, 2017
Bottle shared by Björn thanks. No head and clear red black color. Rubber aroma and dark roasted malty aroma. Huge roasted malty taste. The roasted malt give a malt bitterness that together with hop bitterness blends and balance the big body.

Ferris (15475) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 9, 2016
Bottle - Vintage 2009 - Smoke and some woody notes with umami. Deep dark brown with no head. Tons of raw wood and some smoke. Slick body and very woody finish.

Bottle, dated November 5, 2007, so this beauty is 9 years old. Cheers, spacecoyote! This has held up remarkably well -- there’s only the tiniest hint of oxidization, and there’s still more than enough burnt chocolate / roasted malt bitterness to counter the sweetness of that huge malt bill. It’s boozy but not hot, and all of the different flavors meld together fantastically.

Beerhammaren (1793) - Jyväskylä, FINLAND - SEP 12, 2016
Bottle from Alko. Rated at Hanniku’s cave 2.0. Pours pitch black with low head. Aroma is roasted malts, burned, alcohol, dark coffee, dark chocolate, tobacco, dark fruits. Flavor is mostly same. Still quite rude beer after 8 years of maturation. Still... Swell!

StoutHead (966) - DENMARK - JUN 5, 2016
Bottle. Pours pitch black and generates a brown head if poured from on high, but at almost 8 years old it dissappears very fast. Aroma of roasted malts, fruits and alcohol. Taste is of roasted malts, dark dried fruits - like prunes and raisins, chocolate, resin, licorice, wood, molasses, soy sauce and alcohol. Very complex. Has a very long finish of roasted malts, wood and alcohol. Body is above medium but is surprisingly thin for a 16% beer. Very little carbonation but that’s to be expected I guess. Very good though - a real slow sipper.
