Poured dark brown/black. No head whatsoever. Smelled mostly of caramel and alcohol. Tasted incredibly sweet. A few notes of coffee and earthy/oak flavor. I aged the beer for a year and a half. It’s almost too sweet.
Bottle at home. Nearly nine years now since bottling. The colour is pitch black with a small light beige head. Complex aroma of cocoa, sweet chocolate truffles, lots of roasted coffee beans, burned wood and hints of liquor. Powerful flavor with a mix of sweet liqueur, coffee, ash and chocolate. Has a slick and silky mouth feel, full-bodied indeed, and light to medium bitterness. A fantastic IS where the coffee and chocolate are battling. Incredibly balanced and rich at the same time. nudiebear (333) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - JAN 14, 2017
Bottle at home. Brewed 03/07/2008. Clear dark pour. Coffee, red berries liqueur, plum liqueur, figs, port wine. Madeira, marzipan. Sweet, heat from mellow alcohol. Delicious! Lilja (3140) - Malmö, SWEDEN - NOV 20, 2016
Tack Daniel! Gott i lagom mängder. Vignale (3781) - Malmö, SWEDEN - NOV 20, 2016

First sip actually does give me the tremors. Going into glycemic shock. Coffee, hops and sugary syrup is all I can and really want to say. Two sips in and this; is going to be a long night. 12/10

Bottle from Carl (spacecoyote) as an extra -- cheers! I’m not sure the year on this, but it’s definitely past its prime. No real carbonation left, and I got a ton of soy sauce/umami/meat flavors and a moderate amount of oxidization. It maybe would have been interesting to try this beer younger, but this is past it. nilsas (4047) - Bryne, NORWAY - MAY 16, 2016mR_fr0g (11901) - Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - MAR 8, 2016
Bottle shared at Daniels place. 20/02/2016. Many thanks to Daniel for this one. Oily dark brown coloured pour with no head. Aroma is cinnamon and brown sugars, little jammy fruits, sesame, hot alcohol. Flavour is composed of plum, jammy fruits, cinnamon, brown sticky sugars, chewy, little salty umami. Palate is thick and chewy, very sweet and sticky. Plummy. The_Osprey (7881) - Richmond, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 27, 2016
Bottle presented in paper and a decorative tin, shared at home in Richmond, as ’Nøgne Ø Dark Horizon Third Edition’, 15.5%. Black with no real head. Aroma instantly shows how sweet this beer will be - chocolate liqueur and coffee syrup. Body is smooth and oily with low carbonation. Taste is sweet chocolate syrup, coffee, soy sauce. I’m not normally into sweet beers but I really enjoyed sipping on this. Great. Maria (10212) - Thisted, DENMARK - FEB 20, 2016
It is dark brown, almost black and not completely opaque. The head is small and not long lasting. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, licorice, burnt sugar and dark, dried fruit. The mout feel is olily. The flavor is sweet with notes of sweet licorice, roasted malt, dark fruits, a little burnt sugar and hints of port. The finish is long, initially sweet and later more bitter.
