In the US this is called "Winter Ale".

A dark ale brewed specially for the Christmas season, with a rich, complex taste of caramel. This is a strong, dark and rather sweet Christmas Beer – just the way we think a Christmas beer should be.

Recommended serving temperature 12°C/53°F. Great with cheese or nuts. Ingredients: Lager, Munich, caramel, black, and chocolate malt; Chinook, Columbus, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

19°P, 30 IBU, 8.5 % ABV.

DraftDodger (1793) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - DEC 19, 2017
Copenhagen 19/12 2017. 50 cl bottle from Meny. The usual Nøgne Ø design with a big green "Ø" in the center. Couple of Ice Crystals added. Pours very dark brown with light beige head. Settles as thin patchy layer of foam. No lacing to speak of. Aroma is intense and very sweet. Dark fermented fruit - raisins and dates - saturated in sugary booze, brown sugar and some more discreet spicy, bitter notes in the background. Soft carbonation and thick oily palate. Flavor is heavy sweet partially balanced by light coffee bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet cocoa, sugar and alcohol supplemented by bitter notes. Pure Christmas on bottle.
