Using the same label, but "God Påske" of 2007 is a new and different beer.

Our seasonal Easter ale is light and hoppy, yet it has enough body to match the chill up in those mountains where Norwegians generally gather during Easter break.

Recommended serving temperature 8°C/45°F. Ingredients: Maris Otter, wheat, Munich and caramel malt; Northern Brewer , Crystal and Centenneal hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

14°P, 30 IBU, 6.0 ABV.

A dark reddish amber ale with a thick moka head. In aroma, light solvent notes with smooth nuttyness, bitterness, oily mouthfeel, quite nice, medium bodied. Almost scotch like. Bieropholie imports. BB 26-02-10. Tasted March 31 2010

Bottled. A deep red beer with a nice tan head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and dusty hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, malt, alcohol, dusty hops, and a bit of citrus, leading to a bitter finish.

Pours a murky brown color with a thin white head. Average aroma of caramel and hops. Average flavor of caramel and hops. I like Nøgne Ø, but this beer is very underwhelming.

UPDATED: AUG 30, 2009 Bottle 鸴ml). Shared with GregClow and biegaman, via trade with glougouburpCloudy orange pour, virtually no head. Slightly sour and dry aroma, stale tea and leafy bitterness. Earthy weak black tea and dead fruit sweetness - pretty wan. Slick, dead mouthfeel, dry, a bit astringent, dry sourness on the tongue in the finish. Definitely past its peak, but still drinkable

UPDATED: DEC 31, 2009 In short: A round and big dirty beer with an american style hopping. Good but not a seesion beer.
How: Bottle 500ml. Consumed fresh more than one year before best-before date.
The look: Almost clear golden-copper body topped by a medium beige head
In long: Nose is citrusy and also felt surprisingly yeasty, like APA with a Belgian character. In mouth the beer feels fluffy, the carbonation is very soft (too soft). Smooth and round caramel, cookies dough, juicy citrusy hops, yeasty sensation. Pleasant notes of pine-tree and not-so-pleasant notes of plywood. Big body for the style. This is a rather dirty beer, the exact opposite of the clean and crisp and refreshing typical North-American APA. I enjoyed it but after one bottle I really didn’t want to drink a second one so the beer looses a few points for relatively low drinkability which is imho an essential quality in an APA. I also question Nøgne best-before dates. I’m sitting in Montreal drinking an APA that was made in Norway and this bottle is 1 year 3 months before best-before date!?!? An APA with a shelf life of over 2 years!?!? Even Apu’s best-before dates at the Kwiki-Mart are more trustable.

0.5 l bottle from Bieropholie, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. Batch no. 275, BB 260210. DE09/08.

App.: Clear deep copper with a nice tan foam. Aroma: Peppery, dusty caramel, toffee and sweet malts, lots of sticky orange marmalade and grapefruit, spicy dark dried fruits, rye bread crust, some pine and resin from hops too. Palate: Medium body, soft carbonation, smooth and slightly syrupy. Flav.: Dusty sweet malts, quite fruity but more tart cherries and tree fruits, still a bit of dark dried fruit, spicy (warm spices), some resin and citrus hops; a bit nutty, light apricot; a bit off-dry with a little bitterness.

Nearing two years old...starting to get a little tired?
