The aroma is malty, something fruity and slightly smoky. Mouth feeling is rich and creamy and the flavor is subtle fruity berries in a malt sweetness shower until such caramel and a slightly smoky and woody taste. Hop bitterness is soft and gentle and stresses the fatty mouth feel from the beginning. It has clear Belgian characteristics and taste wise well lie between a dubbel and a triple. ngeaney (97) - SWEDEN - AUG 30, 2015
Copper to red brick colour and light yellow scum with plenty of skumbananer in the aroma.
Caramel, hops juice and some exotic fruits. Must be the Chinook that is bringing this great aroma, pineapple and apricots for sure. More caramel, sticky toffee on the palette, honey sweetness, yeasty and some spice like coriander or possibly nutmeg. Great mix of toasted malts, caramel, fruits, sweetness, hops, bitterness, nuts, spices and honey. Bygers (1184) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUL 20, 2014
Bottle 0,5l. Bottle was off and tasted rotten skunk water. Will
Re-rate if they make another batch.

50 cl bottle @ hotel room, Amsterdam. Rated on 18.07.2009pivnizub (10808) - Bochum, Porř, GERMANY - SEP 17, 2012
Aroma is quite hoppy with floral notes, some nettles and sweetish malt. Flavour is somewhat hoppy with nettles, sweetish malt, caramel, some toffee, floral notes, hints of fruits and ash. The strong hoppiness makes this feel a bit watery. Not the most typical Belgian strong but I like it!
Bottle (vintage 2008): Hazy, chestnut-amber coloured, sugary, malty and slightly alcoholic nose, distinctive hoppy background; moderate sweet-bitter flavour medium bodied, a bit tart; hops and toasted malt in the mainly sweet finish. Too sweet for me…

UPDATED: JUL 8, 2012 Aroma has herbs and citrus and caramel malts. Yeast is belgian like to me. Hazy brown with really big beige frothy head. Crisp palate. Lively carbonation. Creamy texture. Medium bodied. Taste has herbs and spices. Overall lots of flavors and nuances. Belzar (1) - FINLAND - APR 9, 2012 does not count
bottle 500ml heavily carbonated, color of dense copper. Taste of raisin, yeast and malty caramel. Not even close best of Nøgne, but great alternative on Easter. khhoeie (51) - NORWAY - MAR 24, 2012
Perhaps my expectations were too high because this is Nøgne Ø. It started out as a little disappinting, and just a little better than Midtfyn Påskebryg.
But it gets better. It grows as you drink :-)

Shared 0,5 l bottle at local tasting. Gusher. Clear hazelnut body with a light brown film. Spicy candy, dried fruits and malty notes on the nose. Full bodied and smooth to drink with a syrupy texture. Sweet with notes of tobacco and wood. Mortlach (2510) - Rome, ITALY - FEB 11, 2012
25/06/2011 Brasserie 4:20 (tap). Bevuta al Nøgne Ø Beer Festival. Color arancia, intenso e lievemente torbido, buona schiuma biancastra poco persistente. Aroma intenso di malto caramellato, con lievi note speziate e luppolate. Sensazioni confermate in bocca, con in più una nota acidula nel finale. Corpo medio, carbonazione abbondante. Un po’ anonima e deludente. Tra le peggiori birre della serata.
