COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
There is a long story to this malty ale. It was first brewed in the spring 2006 in Nørrebro Bryghus in Copenhagen, Denmark, as a joint brew between Nøgne Ø and Nørrebro. Nørrebro calls their version “Double Knot Brown”. It is the perfect thing to drink with almost any cheese.

Recommended serving temperature 12°C/50°F. Ingredients: Maris Otter, wheat, brown, amber, Munich and caramel malt; Columbus, Chinook and E K Golding hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

19°P.

Bottle. Pours lively, big frothy nut brown head, lays to a sticky covering. Aroma is citric fruit, mango, raisin, dark berries. On the palate is a crescendo of rum raisin, dark fruit, citrus peel, followed by more rum as it rolls over your tongue but a with a smooth creamy mouthfeel. Finishes with a spicy hop bitter kick and a creeping lip puckering dryness. Awesome, awesome beer.

Kind of a strong nut brown ale with some licorice molasses raisins. I would have preferred it without those last flavors but that’s the way it goes.

Thanks for the bottle Helen! Poured into a mug, the appearance was a muddy brown color with a finger and a half’s worth of sly tan foamy head. Milky lace. The aroma had the normal Nogne initial smell - coca cola followed but some hazelnuts, light milk and dark chocolate. Subtle grassy hops. The flavor was exceptionally sweet, that coca cola taste didn’t meld enough with the hazelnuts. The malt had some roastiness to it. Aftertaste was coca cola and hazelnut with a clean sweet finish. The feel was semi-cloying as the coca cola flavor produced a slick semi-oily texture. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine. Overall, Nogne does something to their beers that I don’t know what it is, that coca cola syrupy thing just seems to not do it for me so much.
