COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Nothing is like celebrating your own milestones. This is a celebration of our 500th batch of ale. It was brewed with joy and splendor; the brewer wore a suit, and a TV station filmed the event. As a base for this ale, we have elected to play with numbers: 5 hops, 100 IBUs, 10% alcohol by volume. Indeed it is an Imperial India Pale Ale. Big and bold. Great for a celebration!

Recent bottle from Maria’s in Chicago. Sales people said it must be a recent delivery, and given that it would and should disappear from the shelves, I must believe. That contradicts the ultimate tasting, which yielded a hoppy American barleywine/American strong. Still enjoyable! With a good citrus orange and grapefruit taste, and minty piney hops in the finish. Good drinkability, a little boozy.

500 ml. bottle. Pours a thick lasting, light beige head, with extensive lacing, over a hazy deep copper (SRM 20) body...nose is toffee/caramel, pine, pineapple, hints of dried fruits....taste is toffee/caramel, pine, pineapple, hints of dried apricot, finishing with a medium, lingering hop bitterness....mouth feel thick, chewy, slightly sticky, alcohol warmth present, carbonation low. Thick, rich, heavy with malts, this approaches a Barley Wine more that a lighter D/IIPA in style. However with the heavy forces in all of these styles, overlap is to be expected. This may be an older bottle, as the 100 IBU’s have mellowed greatly and become soft and fruity. The beer is delicious. BJCP 7/3/15/4/8

Bottle: Thanx to Mr.Rask! Hazy red colour, with a nice creamy head. Aroma is domintaed of a "Bomb" of malts and fruits, and alcynes, some caramelly and sirup! Flavor had a nice mouthfeeling of malts and citrus, balanced with the nice sweetnes from malts and , a nice long fruity finsh. Medium to full body! Whow what a nice IMP IPA this is!!!

Pours with a cloudy unfiltered brownish color, with a thick off white head. Really nice Imperial IPA. Very nice balance between the sweetness and the hops.

Dark amber, clear, frothy white head that dissipates to rim
Aroma - rich golden malts, barley sugars, grassy hops, light citrus, sweet scorched caramel malts
Taste - rich sweet golden malts, sweet, grassy hops, citrus hops, thick sugary barley sugar malts, very boozy, hmm I’m not very keen on this
Palate - soft carb, full body, sticky gloopy body. Finish of alcohol, gloopy barley sugar, very sweet, oh no
Overall - This just didn’t work for me

This is not an American IPA. This is European/old world style where the malts come through just as much as the hops and they blend together for a beautiful resiny and woody flavor that isn’t a bomb of either side. Pours a hazy brown, like a dark bourbon or spiced rum. Mouthfeel is very akin to a barleywine, sweet and smooth. The flavors will stay with you for awhile.
