3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
250 ml bottle. A black body with a thin brown head. Aroma is a bit milder than expected, still quite obvious. Roasted malt, coffee, dry fruit, wood and alcohol. Flavor is sweet malt, rather alcoholic, roasted coffee, dark chocolate, dry fruit and wood. The body feels probably lighter than it really is, but it feels OK as it is. Aftertaste is same as the main taste and stays along. Overall this beer surprises me a bit. The Imperial Stout flavor is somehow somewhere in the background and the flavor from the barrel feels rather boozy but not too typical whisky or whatever, its more wood and alcohol in general. Takes a few sips to get used to it, not unpleasant but I prefer the original Imperial Stout.
Dojrzałe, ułożone. Dość wytrawne, ale i z fajną słodyczą. Paloność, kawa, lekka lukrecja, masa suszonych owoców, lekka wanilia. Rozgrzewa. L_Lovecraft (744) - - FEB 12, 2017
Strong alcohol notes well balanced with coffee, woody and roasted malts, black with a good and quite persistant brown head, medium/full body, not too flat, some dark fruits notes then a pleasant notes of bourbon, then a very pleasant coffee aftertaste...probably a few years in the cellar have honed this special beer. 28.09.2016, Bierhandlung - Shared with bartlebier. 1000 takk! Poured out of the (too small) bottle there comes a totaly black and thick stout with a coffee creme coloured and chocolate/coffee mousse smelling aroma. This promising deep breath of coffee and chocolate appears again in the taste. Also some other bit leathery flavours besides the roasted malt and sweetness. This full bodied Imp. Stout with its pleasant creamy palate is like biting into a liquid chocolate dessert. Great long lasting aftertaste. I hope to taste this again sometime. mateuszk (2769) - Poznań, POLAND - SEP 27, 2016
Bottle. Pitch black with creamy brown head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla and licorice. In taste medium sweet, roasty with dark chocolate, vanilla, bourbon. Full body, oily and creamy texture, warming alcohol, roastiness and solid bitterness in finish. Complex, tasty and very drinkable. Habanero (4876) - Tranbjerg, DENMARK, DENMARK - MAR 1, 2016
Bottled. Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma of dark roasted malt. liqorice, black coffee, brown sugar, dark fruit, bourbon, peaty notes and wood. Sweet flavor that ends up more dry, with biter notes and some alcohol. Full bodied, pily texture and flat carbonation. An excellent Impy. 🌟🌟🌟🌟 AdmiralVernon (1200) - SWEDEN - FEB 6, 2016
A: Jet black with a dark brown huge head that quickly disappears. N: Liqourice, rye bread, soy sauce T: Dark bread, coffee, brown sugar, hint of liqourice O: Quite heavy carbonated for a BA stout. Packed with roasted flavours. Decent. tom10101 (6279) - Quebec, CANADA - DEC 19, 2015
Bottle (250 ml) at home. Pitch black with a medium thick dark brown head, some retention, leaving little lacing. Aroma is chocolate forward with roasted malts, ashes, alcohol, berries, oak, caramel and mild smoke. Taste is slightly sweet and slightly acidic as well with again a lot of chocolate as well as roasted malts, ashes, berries, oak, bourbon, smoke, caramel, alcohol (quite warming actually) and bitter chocolate. Full body. Medium to good carbonation. Rich mouthfeel. Coffee-like acidity in the finish along with a surprising alcohol warmth for a 9% abv RIS. Rich, complex and tasty stuff. It’s hard to believe this isn’t 10%+ in abv.
