Bottle 25 cl. Courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours pitch black and opaque with hardly any head - perhaps a vague brownish film. Roasty nose with some sweet brandy and vanilla notes. A little tar also? Rich, rich body, roast and prunes, slightly salty and minerally with an oxidized woody touch. Barrel appears rustic and old - still enjoyable however. Warming alcohol finish. 071112 madmitch76 (24980) - , Essex, ENGLAND - APR 22, 2012

Bottle at Amundsens Brewpub, Oslo. Opaque black beer. Big bubbly tan head that vanished very quickly. Smooth dry palate. Tangy dark malt. Dark fruits. A trace of sweeter dried fruits underneath. The cognac barrelling is actually quite light. There is cognac at the finish but the wood is very light and dry. Dry finish. Dark and interesting!
