COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We think the Russian tsar would have liked his stout this way. A dark, rich ale in which a generous sweetness with roasted malt bitterness. Serving temp.10°C/50°F. Great with vanilla ice cream or dark chocolate.

Ingredients: Maris Otter, Munich, roasted barley, oat, black, and chocolate malt; Columbus and Crystal hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

23°P,75 IBU, 9% ABV.

Opaque, incredibly black with an incredibly thick and sustaining, dark brown head. Dark fruit in the aroma with burnt undertones, milk and lots of sweetness with just an afterthought of crushed coffee beans. Flavor is unique as imperial stouts go. There is burnt fruit (which I personally require for the unflavored style) with some smoke but also an odd tropical sweetness from the American hops that I do not believe works together and also some roast. The body is also a little lean for my taste.

Bottle. Very dark brow with light coffee head. A superbly balanced nose of brown malt, chocolate, burnt malt and sweet vanilla. Medium body, slick palate. Chocolate and vanilla with just a hint of burnt malt. Really an outstanding imperial stout.

Bottle Appearance: opaque dark, very big, beige head Aroma: dark notes, some fruitiness - a plum in chocolate, praline Taste: rather sweet, a plum in chocolate, quite high bitterness, alcohol concealed very well Very decent beer, however carbonation is a bit too high.

Nice taste of roast and coffee, but quite surprisingly the hops was quite prominent with both some floral, grassy and citric features. Also quite clear traces of yeast considering the clear taste of malt and hops. Black/dark brown with a medium coffee-creamy head, the head stays relatively clear throughout. Clear sweetness balanced out by a nice bitterness. The bitterness does not stay for long and somehow the sweetness manages to blend in throughout the finish. An oily and creamy ale, but unfortunately the carbonation is a bit too lively so it mismatch the creaminess. There’s a place for lively carbonation and there’s a place for creamy but put them both together and it won’t work. The ale is really nice but it isn’t quite up there with the best imps I’ve tried because of the carbonation and maybe also because it should feel a bit creamier.

500ml bottle no date.

Pour pitch black with a generous creamy tan head.
Aroma of vanilla pod, roasted malt, burned chocolat cake crust and sweet alcohol.
Taste of roasted malt, hop bitterness, alcohol warmness and notes of coffee.
Full body and medium to high carbonation for the style. Oily and slick
Long malty, bitter and coffee finish.

Thick, creamy and rich. Well balanced. Coffee, chocolate and so on. Everything a good impy stout should be. Really well put together. Smooth as you like, and slips down alarmingly easily.

Wyraźny alkohol, wytrawne, zdominowane przez nieco popiołową paloność. Bardzo proste i totalnie przeciętne piwo.
