Really hazy orange color with a rich frothy off white head. Hoppy aroma with a load of sweet oranges and caramel. Flavor is rich and full of grapefruit hoppiness with a complex addition of dried fruit, pineneedles and caramel malt. Chewy mouthfeel with some sugar stickiness.

Visual: (cellared for 3 years). Huge gusher! Unfiltered yeast working OT. Pours 80/20-head/beer ratio, super thick foam, thick sticky lacing, opaque pale orange-brown, super clustered micro activity.

Nose: slight woody-sourish funk, unfiltered apple juice’d malts - very interesting for an IPA. (lvl-6)-pungency

Attack: crisp-very creamy, fruity malt impression

Mid-palate: full bloated mouthfeel, background tangy, (lvl-5-sweetness), plummy caramel barley malt

Finish: trace airy wheat malt, light woody-funk exhale, sourish dry bitter hops, residual caramel barley malt

Summary: Definitely not your standard IPA. The woody funk goes pretty well with the alcoholic sweet fruity barley malt body. The quality is a cut above the local brews here.

UPDATED: FEB 25, 2017 Poured from a 0.5L bottle at home. Medium-high hazy. Orange-brown. Slight off-white head with good lacing. Slight hops bouquet of citrus - grapefruit. Strong wheat, or even cardboard. Common in many pale lagers I have tried, but seems somewhat misplaced here. Slight yeast (Belgium) aroma. Medium bitterness that lingers nicely. Perhaps a bad bottle, as my original rating was better (but was also one of my first): 6-4-9-5-16

Bottle. Pours hazy orange with average, mostly lasting off-white head. Aroma of pine, resin with touch of citrus and caramel. Taste is medium+ sweet and medium bitter, pine, again some caramel, leading to long, resiny bitter finish. Medium+ body, average carbonation. OK, but high sweetness and caramel reduce its drinkability.

Bottle. Pours a hazy golden beer with a small white head on top. Aroma of tropical fruits and some grassy hints, touch of cheese and malts. Not too full of it. Flavor is mildly bitter, well balanced, some light citrussy notes in there and herbal touches. Well carbonated moutfheel, quite long and medium bitter aftertaste. Fairly ok in my book, could be a bit more distinguishable though.

Orange color. Average carbonation. Aromas of caramel, biscuit, munich malt, herbal and citrus hops. Quite bitter up front and stays bitter across the palate. Almost tastes like eating hop pellets. Hop character is mostly citrus and pine. This said, there is an unexpected balance to it. The hops cover a lot of the actually high sweetness of this beer. Has a bit higher body, but not at the expense of drinkability. I recommend following the suggested serving temperature of 11C, so the bitterness get moderated and the maltier tones come through. Good, but not great IPA.
