3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Labeled as Klin Kokos, bottle.
Pours black, bit of soapy tan head.
Nose is coconutty, like someone mixed a bit of perfumey pina colada in with a very dry porter. Not really bitter or hoppy, just dry.
Flavor follows suit - a reserved porter, dry, not quite roasty but almost, with a big coconut note that isn’t quite natural tasting emerging towards the finish and bashing down any chance of a substantive malt body. Layered. It isn’t bad, by any stretch - to be honest, I was really sold on this by the time I finished. I would have been more than happy to drink another. The coconut presence is bigger than expected, spicy, carrying hints of vanilla, and coupled with a dry malt note that’s roasty in a completely non-assertive sort of way, makes for an interesting beer. Really? Really.
Thank you Meilby for sharing the bottle - Black with a brown head - Malt aroma with some woody notes - Malt body with hints of roasted malt and some woody notes as well - The malt goes into the finish - This was nice Inbreak (6579) - Loddefjord, NORWAY - MAR 9, 2016
Old rating rerated 01.12.2015, (last) 0,5l bottle (vintage 2006, batch #256 bbd. 02.09.2009) shared with friends @ home: ngeaney (97) - SWEDEN - SEP 1, 2015
Nice light brown creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is mild and slightly dry roasted, dark malts, chocolate, caramel, toasted coconut, mild whisky, grass, minerals, oak, hints of unripe banana and licorice. Taste is slightly dry watery, weeds, dark malts, minerals, grass, ashes, burnt caramel, chocolate, paper, sour-ish burnt coffee. Medium bitterness, watery and mineraly mouthfeel. Probably way over the top by now, as the taste and mouthfeel is watery. But it’s still very nice, and I really whish they’ll start making this one again, as it was always my favorite Christmas beer from Nøgne...
Bottle was from 2009 and had lost a lot of it’s coconut flavour, tasted like cough syrup and obviously this Klin Kokos was dead in the bottle. Christian (13859) - Odense, DENMARK - MAY 6, 2013
Near black with a small off-white head. Aroma of dark chocolate, licorice, cocoa and dried fruit. Roasted flavour with chocolate and a strong ashy note. Dry and somewhat thin Lilja (3541) - Malmö, SWEDEN - APR 15, 2013
Årgång 2005. Väldigt gott, lagom bittert, choklad smak (likt chochlate stout) men inte lika krämig eller mastig. Väldigt gott. Glöm ej att det är ofiltrerat det finns en bottensats.

Bottle, courtesy of Inbreak and shared with Bergen Beer Geek Tasting Crew on Christmas Tasting 2012. Cheers for cellaring and sharing this long-lost Nøgne Ø beer Inbreak; never thought I’d get to rate this! :-) Pours a deep brown, near-black body with a small light beige head. Aroma is vanilla, raisins, port wine, sour-ish oxidated hints, dark chocolate and ashes. Nice, and quite pungent. Taste is ashes, licorice, vanilla, raisins, port wine-like oxidation notes, caramel, chocolate and hints of earthy sour-ish yeast tones. Thin body, very soft carbonation. I suspect some of the body has been basically oxidized away and this is definitely past its prime. Regardless, a fine ale and a very nice Christmas "ticker bonus" for all of us in Bergen Beer Geek Tasting Crew. :-) Cunningham (8451) - Halden, NORWAY - DEC 27, 2012
Black colour with a beige head that leaves a fine lacing. Roasted malt and chocolate aroma. Full body with fine mild sweetness and some bitterness. Nice complexity in the flavour. Coffee, roasted malt, vanilla and a light fruitiness. Rasmus40 (22047) - Beder, Aarhus, DENMARK - NOV 24, 2012
[Bottle from a trade with Yngwie]

Dry and roasted moderate bitter finish. Soft and smooth. 241112 mcberko (19172) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 4, 2012
500mL bottle, pours a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma smells infected or just plain expired, with sour medicinal notes, sour berries, and cough syrup. Flavour of cough syrup, sour berries, medicinal notes, and mulled wine. Definitely either past its prime or infected (probably the former). I can see what it would’ve or should’ve been, but this is quite offensive. POLK (2219) - Hørning, DENMARK - JAN 15, 2012
Tastes like a mixture of coconut liqueur and a thin stout. It has an aroma of malibu.
