Fruktøl skal være surt. Ordentlig surt.

Super purple coloured body with a nice, three to four centimetre tall pink head that fades relatively quickly. Aroma of cherries, tart grapes, light malt, some oak and dry hay and a lot more tart cherries - very nice nose indeed. Light to Medium-bodied; Super cherry flavour up front with a tart bite along with some sour grapes and a hint of blueberries along with a good oaky quality and a dose of sour brett flavours and a funky yeast bite near the end. Aftertaste shows mostly of the dry oak along with the super tart cherries, but also some other fruits remain along with a dose of more sweet fruit notes including plums and apricots. Overall, a very nice beer as expected and despite the high price and hard-to-find nature, a good option to have, but probably not worth so much trouble - unless you live on THIS side of the world. I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased from [not the USA] Jason’s Market Place at Taipei 101 in Taipei, Taiwan on 24-July-2017 for NT$250 sampled in my hotel room here in central Taipei, Taiwan on 27-July-2017. It was a very nice beer to have over here, and it was great to find, and better to not have to lug around and bring back home!

MelvinKalksma (1578) - NETHERLANDS - JUN 30, 2017

Aroma:
Slight/medium aroma of malts, caramel, cherries and tart.

Appearance:
Opaque dark red/purple beer with a slight/medium pink head.

Taste/Palate:
Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel and cherries; ends slightly dry and sour with tart.

Overall:
This beer is rather intense, complex and balanced. Lovely sweet cherry flavour at the start, with a decent tart finish. Perfect appearance and a great palate as well, but the aroma could have been stronger.

Dark red, pink froth. Sour cherry aroma, faint notes of butter. Similar flavour, slightly tart. Dry with fluffy mouthfeel. Finishes with buttery notes every other sip, but I can’t decide if it’s really that bad.

Bottle 500ml. Pours deep purple with low pink head. Minimal lacing. Aroma is of fruits, plastic/ruber, artificial cranberry juice. Taste is of fruits, acidity. Palate: Medium body, medium carbonation. Overall: Kewl.

mathieuc (4000) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - APR 26, 2017
Pours a clear burgundy with a thin pink head that leaves good lacing. Nose is of cherries, rubber, burnt wood and Play Doh (TM). Taste is pretty dry and moderately acidic with more of the distinct Play Doh (TM) impressions. More winey cherries. Body is medium, carbonation moderate. Pretty cool but I think this bottle might have been running a bit too old.

czar (9172) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - APR 25, 2017
pours almost clear super bright red with a small reviving pink head offering some retention and lacing. tart wooden spicy cherries, sharp medium citric acidity, red grapes, fruity red grapes, cranberries, foreign bush berries, herbs, spicy wood, pepper. moderate carbonation, light body, tart if not sour spicy-herbal finish. not quite a kriek (of course), but a nice cherry sour ale interpretation.

Bottle. Wine Rack, Sharrowvale Road, Sheffield. Clear, deep pink. Ring of pink head. Nose has Cherry Lips sweets. Cherry stone. Raspberry. Ground almonds. Bakewell tart in a glass. Taste is cherry sweet, and juicy, tangy and tartly acidic. Cleansing and light on the palate. Easy drinking for the ABV. Lightly tart finish. Nice one.
