500 ml bottle, batch #1774, from the brewery. ABV is 4.5%. Very dark brown to black colour, large beige head. Strong aroma of smoked and roast malts. Fairly dry flavour, a certain fruitiness helps the drinkability a lot, otherwise the notes are of smoked and roast malts, with moderate notes of juniper berries. visionthing (5414) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JUN 9, 2017
50cl bottle from Gulating ølutsalg, Larvik - enjoyed at the viewpoint at Gaupekollen, Oslo. Maybe it didn’t like the climb up the hill, it was a bit eager to come out of the bottle. Dark mahogany with a large beige head. Malty and roasty aroma with a fair amount juniper and hints of pine and smoked wood. Moderate sweet and surprisingly flavourful with some slightly sour notes and a pleasant bitterness. Tasty and very enjoyable ale that certainly fits well at a hike in the forest. Pours dark reddish brown with a beige to tan head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, dried fruits, berries, yeast, funk, juniper and earthiness. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a long light roasted, chocolate, caramel, dried fruity, yeasty, berry and juniper finish. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.
Black colour, firm light brown head. Smells burned, roasted malt. Taste burned malt, berries, citrus and I can taste a hint of the juniper. Nice lacing, and well carbonated.
