COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imagine that the German have come up with a high alpha fruity hop! "Could that be right?" we asked ourselves. We were in luck to get 100 kgs. The new wonder hop bears the name Mandarina, and it’s presently not commercially available. And how could we present this hop with all it’s glory? By brewing an IPA of course. Please welcome Mandarina IPA.

Bottle at home. The colour is cloudy dark orange with a medium, light beige head. A little careful aroma with a fruity touch of grapefruit, fruity hops and some pine. The flavour is more pronounced and similar with grassy hops and grapefruit. Has a rich and slick mouth feel, and a medium bitterness. A fruity and nice IPA.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours bright yellow with a white head. Nose is like salt and mandarin. Plenty of citric sweetness with that wet and juicy note. Taste is sweet and juicy citrus zest and tangerine / mandarin. Plenty of saltiness which I like. Solid stuff

Ragnampiza (751) - Rome / Lecce, ITALY - MAY 31, 2014
500 ml bottle from Les Vignerons, served in a nonic half pint glass. Dark sunrise orange, pretty hazy, with a nice, creamy and persistent off-white head. Fruity nose but not as intense and fresh as I was hoping, notes of citrus, slightly tropical, some caramel malts presence, little nuttiness, a hint of soap. It doesn’t really get better in the mouth, very malt forward, decent bitterness but not that fruity nor hoppy. Nutty, slightly toasted, perhaps also resinous in the far background. Pleasent floral and earthy aftertaste, but the alchool could have been better hidden. Average carbonation, medium to full body, cramy texture. Had higher expectations about this one, so so.

jaghana (6068) - Strasbourg (Alsace), FRANCE - MAY 27, 2014
Bottle 50cl @Fin mousse. Nose is on agrumes and almond, phenolic. Aroma is very bitter with low fruit notes, on agrumes, mono dimensional, less complex.

larsga (7539) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAY 23, 2014
Big pale beige head. Clear body full of floaties. Tropical fruit and wood aroma with dusty rye crisp bread notes. Dry resiny tropical fruit taste with spicy rye crisp bread notes. Mid-bodied. Sharpish mouthfeel. Dry resiny tropical fruit and spice aftertaste with chocolatey crisp bread notes. Interesting and nice. Very drinkable. (0.5l bottle, from wine monopoly, Vika, Oslo.)

3.2
Borresteijn (7047) - Zaandam, NETHERLANDS - MAY 21, 2014
50cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Murky amber colour, off-white head. Lots of yeast. Aroma is a bit muddy, earth, sweat, citrus, clementines, grapefruit, sweet, caramel. Flavour is yeasty, earth, citrus fruits, oranges, clementines, sweaty, grapefruit, caramel, bitter finish. Medium-bodied. It’s a bit cloying, perhaps should’ve been more careful with the yeast.
