We have passion for dark beers here in Grimstad. This beer you are holding is a luscious and full bodied stout that we have carefully aged on licorice root and vanilla beans. We brewed this dark ale with several varieties of caramelized sugars for a rich and smooth finish with sutble notes of toffee and vanilla. All of our beers are unpasteurized and unfiltered so please pour carefully to leave the sediment behind.

50 cl Bottle. Dark brun, almost black. Dense brun head. Red forest berries in primary aroma, followed by coffee, dark chocolate and liquorice. Lots of vanilla / molasses sweetness in taste, paired with a nice acidity. Nice tropical touch. Complex, but too sweet to deserve a place among the top beers in its class. Undoubtedly fantastic for a variety of sweet and heavier desserts. Really a typical "one-small-taste-is-amazing-too much-is-really-too-much"-beer.

UPDATED: AUG 6, 2017 Bottle. Pours thick black, head is dark tan and fizzes out like caramelized sugar in a pan. Aroma is vanilla, roasted malts, toffee. Taste is very smooth - easy drinking for a ten percenter very little alcohol taste. This beer shines best on the swallow with a creamy caramel, vanilla toffee aftertaste and faint licorice. This is easily one of my favourite beers by this brewer even considering their large stable. Hope this becomes a year round staple.

pours oiky black opaque with foamy light brown head. Aroma: gentle roasted grain, malts, with notes of toffee, coffee, chocolate, hint of caramelised sugar, vanilla...flavor is more intense: roasted grain, malts with notes of coffee, chocolate, cacao, toasted toffee, caramelised sugars, vanilla, licorice...dry finish. Full body, smooth texture, moderate carbonation. Strong, rugged and resilient classical Imperial Stout.

Draught, 10% at KØ17 as Nøgne Ø Imperial Tropical Stout. Good roasted aroma. Black colour. No head. The flavour is roasted with a sweet liquorice note. Medium to high bitterness. Quite sweet, even sugary, but does not have enough hops to be jammy. Still pretty good.

Drobna, brazowa pianka, która szybko opada do firanki. Barwa czarna z brazowymi refleksami. Aromat slodki, kojarzy sie z lodami czekoladowymi, karmelem, cappuccino, lukrecja, wanilia... W smaku dosc slodkie, tu równiez ciasto czekoladowe, melasa i karmel na pierwszym planie, w tle rodzynki, kawa, lukrecja i wanilia...

Bottled 500ml (Etre-Gourmet)
Opaque black colour, medium-sized steady brownish head. Aroma is toasted and sweetish with notes of vanilla, cane sugar and plums. Full-bodied. Flavour is not really par to aroma. Lots of coffee, roastyness, not so sweet than expected. Some toffee, lurking vegetables. Boozy kick. Finish has licorice, otherwise it is not so evident. Has potential but is quite restless - like something taken from the all first three Dark Horizons.

Bottle. Very dark brown, almost black color, rather weak foam. Aroma: caramel, apple, licorice and vanilla, whiskey, oak, sweet. Taste: sweetish, caramel, apple, vanilla, licorice, dried fruits, raisins, oil, bitterness, dried apples, calvados. Very good.

From a 500ml on 30/6/2017. Rating number 1500 sees me sample my first Nogne in quite some time. Pours a dark, dark brown with bugger all head. The nose features caramel and chocolate with hints of fruit and booze. The flavours features chocolate, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, set off against a modest roasty bitterness and some licorice. The texture is slick and the carbonation soft. Not sure why they call it a tropical stout, but it’s a very pleasant dessert-like impy, albeit one that doesn’t really stand out.

UPDATED: JUN 12, 2017 Black colour with a ran head. Aroma of liquorice, molasses, chocolate, alcohol, vanilla and some plums. Taste of chocolate, molasses, cane sugar, malt, alcohol and plums. Smooth mouth feel.
