COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We brewed this ale with the famous sake yeast No 7 from Masumi Sake in Nagano, Japan. On advise from Masumi’s master brewers, we fermented this ale very slowly at low temperatures to bring out No 7’s fabulously fruity character. This product is unfiltered and unpasteurized. Please enjoy chilled! Special thanks to Masumi!

Aroma is a light sweet maltiness with some caramel notes and roastiness. Some fruit aromas pouring through. Taste is a rich malt character paired with a sweet fruitiness that is met with some liquor snap. However for 13.5% it is shocking smooth. Head pours thin with a light brown body.

Clear brown beer, almost no head. Dense malty nose, caramel, fruit hints. Malty flavor, alcohol warmth, bready notes, more caramel, coconut. Finishes dry with sake-sweetness and wood. The dryness lingers. Interesting stuff. Shared by martjoobolut, thanks!

bottle at home - teku glass, side by side 2. and 3. 2.: Pours clear dark amberish orange, no head. Aroma of aged hops and some smoke. Nice sweet body, some herbal bitters, some sake in the finish, with sweet bready malts. 3.: cloudier, darker. nose is more malt. Body and taste are likewise. Too bad they are over their point.

Supremely fruity and malty with big molasses, caramel and toffee malt notes, prunes and raisins with a rich dessert tart like quality. The pour is a murky, muddy taupe with a non-existant light beige head. The aroma is warm, rich and surprisingly fruity. There is a steady carbonation despite no head. Nicely done. aged 3 years mellowed out with no hop character left.

UPDATED: FEB 18, 2013 Pours a see-through copper colour with almost no head at all. Aroma of alcohol, barley and some candy suger maybe. Flavour is intensely sweet, with tropical fruits, barley and some wood. Really mellow mouthfeel and almost no carbonation at all. Really fruity and smooth.Shoulden’t this be catagorised as a barley wine? A really good beer indeed.

(Bottle, 0.25 l - #12406 - Brewed 20/12/2011 - BBE 20/12/2016, from Alko Arkadia, 20130219) The beer poured reddish dark brown and clear. Its head was small, sparse and white. Aroma had fruitiness, sweetness, vineousness, malts and caramell. Palate was full bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, caramell, hops, fruitiness, vineousness, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy, malty, sweet and bitter. My knowledge of Sake is next to nothing so I’m not able to notice the typical characteristics of that drink in this beer. There was somethign non-beer like here and there. But the heavy maltiness and strong hoppiness pushed this drink to the beer side. Still a weird experiment but better than the 1st edition.
