From a 250ml bottle on 30/5/2014 (present from my wonderful wife and precious daughter). Pours a dark red amber with just a hint of head. Has a strong aroma of dark fruit (grapes) and booze. The flavour is big and sweet, with dark fruit again to the fore (more grapes, plums, prunes), along with some brown sugar and more than a dash of bourbon. It finishes with a distinct, quite sour, puckering bitterness which provides balance to the sweetness up front. The palate is relatively syrupy and the carbonation medium. Don’t really get much peat in this and it doesn’t really present as a barley wine to me. None the less, it’s a quite interesting boozy sipper. arsol (1221) - NORWAY - MAY 23, 2014
Grumsete mørk brun farge med lite skum. Noe røklukt, også alkoholdunst. Lukter også kirsebær. Smaker syrlig. Litt sherryfeeling. Liker absolutt smaken bedre en lukten. Kjenner alkoholvarme. Bittersøt avslutning som varer. Vighals (4086) - Sørumsand, NORWAY - MAY 23, 2014
Mørk brun med en del segmenter. Lys brunt skum. Røkt, sur lukt av bål og lukt av bær. Syrlige bær, cherry og kjenner også røyksmaken. Lite kullsyre, ganske lang bittersøt ettersmak. Holmen2 (3749) - NORWAY - MAY 5, 2014
Very dark ruby, significantly darker than the ordinary Sunturnbrew. A bit of lambic, peated malt and barn in aroma. Sour lambic in taste and aftertaste, with sour berries and medium dark malt. Not much peated malt taste left. Dry mouthfeel. Decent drinkability. Interesting.

Shared bottle at Cardinal. Dark red-brownish colour. Interesting aroma of fermented fruits, a little smoke and alcohol. Alcohol taste very strong and sherry-like with tones of red berries. Some sourness. nimbleprop (8476) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - MAY 2, 2014
4oz pour at Churchkey’s Nogne O Tap Takeover. Pours a clear, rootbeer brown with a ring of white head. Nose is a mix of booze and juniper, brandy, smoke, some sour cherry. Flavor is hot, acetic, malt vinegar, smoke, stinging nettles, lemon, moonshine. Hot finish. TET (3086) - Kaarina, FINLAND - MAY 1, 2014
A very dark brown beer with a weak and beige head. The aroma is strognly roasted with peat, rich maltyness and berry sweetness, hint of vanilla and salt liquirice. Taste is roasted, peat, sourness of red currants, some salt liquirice. Almost full bodied, still quite easy, even almost a fresh due to berries. Not so good as the normal Sunturnbrew, this is not so intensive. radagast83 (8137) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - APR 29, 2014
Poured from bottle at Churchkey for a meet the brewer event. Aroma is astringent alcohol. Smoke notes, meat character. Too much smoke, barrel didn’t improve taste unfortunately. Not a fan of this particular one at all. aldemirfilho (20) - - APR 26, 2014
Nice dark, smoked, oak-like-tasting beer with a wooden smell. I asked for a barleywine here and that's what they suggested me to try. It tastes a bit different from other barleywines I tried (I think it's because it's also a bit fruity) but definitely I good beer that's worth trying.
