Bottle - Sweet oaky notes with a vinous character. Smoke and date are in the background. Opaque dark brown with a rich but thin brown head. Oak and sour cherry dominate, with peat and the other original flavor far in the background. This is so different than the original, doing it side by side I would have never guessed. The barrel adds a flavor akin to a Flemish Red, and takes away everything that was unique and interesting about the original brew. Although I like this, I am disappointed at the lack of continuity between this and the original. visionthing (5363) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - DEC 21, 2013
25cl bottle from Vinmonopolet, Storo. Pours clear mahogany with a rather small, tan head. Moderate smoky aroma with oak, peat, vanilla, bourbon, caramel, dried fruits and hints of alcohol. Sweet and complex with lovely and balanced flavours. The smoky notes seems to have faded a bit with aging, and the beer is surprisingly well balanced. Alcohol is noticeable, but well integrated. Excellent winter warmer, especially on this day! abstractbeer (241) - NORWAY - NOV 29, 2013
0,25 cl bottle at home. Best before 2017-07-17. Dark brown-black color, reddish hints at the edges. Smoky leather-y aroma slightly reminiscent of a sour ale. Some fruity notes in the aroma as well. Smoky flavor as well, very smoky, and lots of wood. Smoky wood. Barbecue. Tastes like a campfire. Nice. Notes of leather and licorice, and some fruity notes, somewhat in the realm of artificial pear perhaps? Tastewise we’re actually on the sour/acidic side (kinda like a white wine). Full body. Carbonation is almost lively. fletchfighters (1529) - AUSTRALIA - NOV 21, 2013
285 Ml bottle
dark brown color, light brown head. Falls to a ringed collar. Good, thick ABV legs.
Nose is smoke, ash, peat, seaweed, iodine, oak, dark fruits, and some salted meats. Ocean did a lot to this barrel I think.
taste is salty, slightly sweet, dark fruits, cured meats, peat, smoke, oak, and ash. Real well balanced but the saltiness does stand out.
Medium bodied, light carbonation. Complex and age has treated this well. Nice beer TaktikMTL (7798) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 8, 2013

Bottle. Another jewel from trade with Palme. Pours dark brown color, beaige head. Aroma is great - peated, whiskey, wine, smoked, vanilla. Taste is also smoked, plums, dark chocolate, hints of sourness, grapes. Alcohol was very well hidden. This is a very nice beer. andrewturba (1190) - Alberta, CANADA - SEP 1, 2013
Pours a hazy dark copper/brownish colour with a small off white to tan head that leaves some lace on the glass. Aroma is sour fruit(mostly getting cherry), wood, faintly peaty, mild alcohol and bourbon. Flavour is sour fruit, sour wood, mild alcohol, light bitterness, and bourbon. Reimer96 (1743) - Alberta, CANADA - SEP 1, 2013
Pours a clear deep ruby red with a fluffy off white head. Aroma of wood, bourbon, peat, hint of vanilla, alcohol soaked fruit, quite pleasant. Taste is wood, peat, bourbon, cherries/plums and a hint of licorice on the finish. Medium high carbonation on this gives it?s lots of flavor but it?s not as good as the regular as it kills all the nice peaty flavors and isn?t as full bodied either. allmyvinyl (10613) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - AUG 31, 2013
Tap at North Bar, Leeds, for their 15th birthday party. A long time ago now, I know, but I found a note down the (metaphorical) back of the sofa, and realised there we’re tons of Nogne beers I have drunk but not rated yet. It was 1/3rd pint and I remember it being brown, smoky and full-bodied. Didn’t get the bourbon to be honest.
