COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
To enhance the flavor of our Sunturnbrew, we aged it in bourbon barrels for a year. We think it was a good year!

25 cl bottle from vinmonopolet. Pours black with a medium, small bubbled light brown head. Leaves some lacing.Nice smokey aroma with oak notes. Flavor of smoke, oak, dark fruits. Soft carbonation, full body, not as complex as the original Sunturnbrew, but this is very drinkable and alcohol is very well hidden.

50 IBU. Bruin bier met rode gloed en weinig schuim. Geur: gerookte banaan, vanille, botermelk, cola prik. Smaak: licht zuur, geturft, zeer vineus. Wrange combinatie. Niet mijn smaak.

Rating #2256 - 2015.12.15 - Draught @underground_yeg. Pours a midnight black in colour with a minimal tan head that fades quickly. Distinct smoky, vanilla/toffee aroma oozes out. Very unique body, medium alcohol warmth, predominant smokiness on the palate tempered with the dry, bitter roast malt character of the stout. Bourbon vanilla comes through splendidly, and yet the smokiness is still the star. Wondrous.

Dark brown to black colored, small beige head, floaters. Aroma is peat, wood with barrel sourness, bit bourbon, vinous, some caramel and dark fruit notes, light roast. Taste is medium+ sweet malt, caramel, dark fruits, moderate peat, salty, wood, some bourbon barrel and sourness, burned-peat more pronounced in the finish and dominates the aftertaste, some alcohol and warmth, aggressive. Medium+ bodied, soft to flat carbonation, sticky. Salty peat, sweet caramel/fruit and sour wood... not a combination I like. (bottle, Bierhalle Deconinck, Vichte)

(Nøgne Ø Sunturnbrew Bourbon Barrel) Bottle 250 ml received from a trade with Cuso a couple of years ago, many thanks Imro! Served into a snifter, ABV 11% Dark brown to almost totally black colour on the body, with a small and a bit thin light beige head on top, with lo retention, eventually leaving a thin line of foam around the glass. Aroma has plenty of smoked malts and peat, light alcohol, nice notes of bourbon. Taste is sweet with a faint touch of acidity, plent of smoke, peat, bourbon, alcohol, light vanilla, some dark fruits. Medium thick body with soft carbonation. Very good, 250 ml was too little for this one.

Nice creamy head and black body with ruby notes. Aroma of leather, cherry, oak, roast beef. Flavour is leather and meat, not as complex as it could be. Nice on the mouth and alcohol is expertly well hidden. Really smart beer, not quite a symphony but definitely a damn good solo.

250ml bottle. Pours an unclear, medium brown with lots of sediment floating around and a thin, fully diminishing, beige head. Sweet aroma of caramel malt, bourbon, peat smoke and oak. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, dark fruit, bourbon, peat smoke and oak with a slightly tart, dry, bitter, warming alcohol finish. Medium body with a smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Nicely balanced.

Barwa brązowo brunatna, nieprzezroczysta, mętna, z pływającymi kawałkami drożdży. Piana zaledwie w postaci minimalnego krążka. W aromacie dominuje wanilia i stara dębowa beczka, odrobina nut czerwonego wytrawnego wina, dojrzałej wiśni i drogiej whiskey. Szalenie przyjemny, bogaty i intensywny. Mocna rzecz, wybitnie degustacyjna.
