Haand2012. Pours brown with a beige head. Aroma of smoke, malt, some perfume and caramel. Flavor is sweet and smoked with some malt, perfume, oak and bourbon. Medium body, soft carbonation.
Small beige head. Clear dark brown body. Syrupy tar and molasses aroma with roasty licorice notes. Sweet perfumy smoky spicy taste with musty vanilla notes. Full-bodied. Mild, flat, slightly hot mouthfeel. Dryish alcohol and vanilla aftertaste with smoky tarry lavender perfume notes. Too perfumy and sweet, but the base beer shines through and is still great. Pours dark reddish brown with a smooth foamy head. Strong smoked aroma with notes of oak, vanilla, wood, ash, berries and caramel malts. Taste is smoked and malty with some berries, oak and vanilla notes. Finish is malty with notes of smoked ham, ash and vanilla. Nice, tasty smoked beer.
On tap, Haand Festival 2012. Theregular version is one of my very favourites, the oak chips give an extra dryness and some vanilla. But I’m not convninced it is really an improvement. Beer5000 (6674) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - JUN 29, 2012

On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration, cheers to Meilby the tapmeister! ;-) Deep nut brown body, small off-white head. Aroma is dark fruits, oak, cognac, booze, vanilla, hints of smoke and dark malts in the back. The smokiness seems very much subdued compared to the regular version. Taste is booze, heavy dry oak tones, smoke and cured ham. Hints of cognac and dark malts. Intensely oaked; in fact this may be the most wood-marked beer I’ve ever had. A fun experience, and another tasty beer from Nøgne Ø. Bragesnak (5394) - Aarhus, DENMARK - JUL 30, 2012

From tap @Haand ØlFestival ’12. A low lightly tanned head, covering a shady dark brown colored body. Initial aroma of wood and well roasted dark malts, followed by a scent of burnt caramel, something herb-like, and faint alcohol. Succulent, full, almost flat body. Taste is sweet and roasty. Vanilla tones, hint of oak, charcoal and dark dried fruits. Warming alcohol and roasty bitterness in the ending. vipinvelp (4510) - Velp, NETHERLANDS - NOV 1, 2013
Clear red brown with small light brown foam ring. Aroma is quite nice, oak and dark brown fresh bread. Some coffee. Taste is smooth, nothing outstanding, just a smooth velvet wood taste. Like being at a carpenter workshop. (Bergen 201311)
