Ingredients: Malted barley, wheat, malted wheat, sugar, hops, yeast and local Grimstad water. It is very difficult to brew a complex and balanced Belgian-style tripel ale, but we have made an attempt at brewing one anyway! Our respect and admiration for those who master the skill and art of brewing excellent ale of this style is limitless. Tripels often pair with cheese, seafood and fresh vegetables.

50 cl [email protected] in tulip [email protected] 9 degrees C Pours hazy yellow with small off white head with ok retention and some lacing. Fruity, yeasty aroma. Taste yeasty, slightly smoked, alcoholic with a sweetness of dried apricot and other dried fruits which also carries over into the aftertaste. Low carbonation and almost cloying palate. Completely lacks the effervescense of a good Belgian tripel and was the most disappointing Nøgne Ø I have had to date. Guess even excellent breweries miss now and again...

The aroma is ok. Some pear, yeast and malt. The taste however is not like what I expected from a trippel. The smoked taste and the yeast (that should been the "leading" taste) just not work to well together and it turns out to be a dissappointing beer this time from Nøgne Ø (still the best norwegian brewery....)

Aroma has sweet pear, banana and vanilla. Some yeasty sourness and alcohol. Pours hazy golden with a small head that leaves beautiful lacing. Taste has light bitterness and medium sweetness. Herbal hops. Full bodied with average carbonation.

Bottle from the LCBO - purchased in 2012, so over 3 years old when sampled. Bright dark gold with a slight haze (would’ve been hazier, but I left most of the sediment in the bottle) and a thin head. Aroma definitely has an oxidized character with a very slight hint of cardboard, but it’s mostly quite fruity (peach, sweet orange) with a hint of honey and subtle peat. Flavour is quite sweet up front, almost candyish fruit and honey notes, with peat and moderate dry bitterness coming through in the finish. It was probably better a couple of years ago, but this still isn’t too bad.

Huge white ohche head. Cloudy golden. Yeasty fruity aroma. Warm, meady honey, strong, earthy. Soft and round palate. Classy.

Bottle. A good beer with a nice and fruity taste. The normal tripel flavours are not very strong and make the beer easy.

alex_leit (5198) - Minsk, BELARUS - NOV 20, 2015
Bottle 500 ml. Hazy, yellow honey color with good white foam. Aroma: fruits, pears, a little sour spices from yeast, perfume and alcohol, slightly smoked. Taste: smoked, hop and alcohol bitterness, malt, shortbread, a little bit sweet and sour, pear, warming. Good ale.

Bottle. Malt, fruits, spices, caramel and mild notes of roasted malts and smoke. Heavy sweetness and moderate bitterness. Dry, bitter finish.

metalspice (1103) - Jevnaker, NORWAY - NOV 7, 2015
Disig gulbrunt med tynt skum. Lukter gress, pepper og lett sitrus. Smaken har krydder og høy. Alkoholen fremtredende mot slutten.
