COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The name of this beer is "Peculiar Christmas" in English. This spiced Christmas ale is strange - and indeed a fusion beer. We have gathered inspiration from the Norwegian drink “gløgg”, and as such this is quite an uncompromising brew. Best served with “goro” and “fattigmann”. Recommended serving temperature 10°C/50°F, but you are free to try on higher temperatures...

Ingredients: Maris Otter, Munich, caramel, and chocolate malt; Columbus and Cascade hops; 5 different spices, English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

15°P, 30 IBU, 6.5 ABV.

Very different beer and peculiar. Nose is rich in herbs and notes of wine and glögg. Colour dark brown with red notes. Taste is also more wine and herbs than classic beer. Palate is dry and with some hoppiness. Really enjoyable but different.

Aroma of Christmas herbs and roasty chocolate malt. Brown hazy appearance. Medium-high sweetness and light-medium bitterness. Soft carbonation. Better than expected.

Copenhagen 14/12 2016. 50 cl bottle from Meny. Purple "Ø" with a couple of snowflakes to underline that this is a Christmas Seasonal. Can read on the back that this is a date between Beer and Gløgg which sounds pretty ominous. Pours murky brown with small yellow head. Aroma is heavy sweet and reminds me of Gløgg. Raisins, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla and sweet wine. Soft carbonation and slightly thick palate. Flavor is heavy sweet and sugary with a light spicy bitterness. Aftertaste is spicy and kind of weird. Too much Gløgg and too little beer for me. But it is certaoinly "Peculiar".

Bottle. Muddy dark brown pour. Aroma of strong cinnamon, spices, cardamom and coriander. Flavor of smokey spice, cinnamon, malt, cardemon and a spicey malty finish. Nice.

Bottle (as "Peculiar Yule") from Louisville Beer Store; shared with my Boo. Aroma: Reminds me of Chai- lots of spices, particularly cardamon and clove with molasses. Appearance: Dark chestnut brown pour with a tan cap that settles into a wispy head. Flavor: Pretty much matches the nose; spice intensive throughout- like drinking a Chai and eating a Christmas spiced cookie; the finish is mostly dry. Palate: Medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation, abrupt finish. Overall: Certainly odd, but it grows on you. Better as it warms, and a nice choice to have with Christmas cookies.

AROMAT: Przyprawy korzenne (głównie imbir z kardamonem).

Bottle. Pours opaque dark coffee brown with medium brown head. Aroma is prunes, dried ginger, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, port wine, orange peel and brown sugar (exactly the same ingredients as go into my homemade "gløgg" extract). Taste is medium sweet, light to medium bitter, light acidic, light umami and faint salty. Body is oily to syrupy with soft carbonation. Finish is long, rich and complex with notes of "gløgg", gravy, coffee, Christmas cookies, Christmas pudding, raw licorice and all the spices mentioned above. Definitely "peculiar" and definitely "Christmas". Thumbs up for brewing something different!
