Rerate on August 3, 2008. Bottle brought home from Åland by a friend.
Black with brown head. Roasted and sweet malty scent and taste. Medium mouthfeel and bitterness.
Almost black colour, good ligh-brown head. Toast malt nose, with apparent sweetness already in aroma. Big sweetness in flavour with a touch of roast malt. Low bitterness. Low on almost everything except the sweetness. mabjork (692) - Vasa, FINLAND - DEC 10, 2006
UPDATED: DEC 18, 2006 Bottled. Almost black in colour, minor beige head. The aroma is that of alcohol and caramel. The flavour is sweet and dry with roased malt. mrdasilva (120) - Helsinki, FINLAND - DEC 7, 2006
Big shortly lasting brown head, near black great color. Sweet, slightly alcoholic, nicely hoppy aroma. Nice coffeeness also. Harsh, dry, coal-like flavor. Straightforward, harmless and easy. Overcarbonated palate. TBone (17783) - Pori, FINLAND - NOV 4, 2006
Bottled (BB 05/2007).
Opaque black/muddy brown, decent tan head. Rye bread, toasted malts and yeast in the nose. Crisp carbonation. Burned malty flavor, perhaps not so roasted than in Nokian Jouluolut and is not so sweet than Pääsiäisolut. Quite simple Schwarzbier with long toasted aftertaste.

Bottled. Pitch black colour, small brown head. Aroma is caramel, smoothly roasted malts and slight hints of rye. Flavour is roasted malts, slight alcohol and a longlasting hint of coffee. Slight caramellish hints attached to the coffee. Slightly watery, otherwise ok. Tranquillity (2461) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 2, 2006
Damn! I wasn’t the first one to rate this =) I didn’t know I was supposed to "stir" either. The brew has a thick brown head. Reminds me a lot of Sinebrychoff Porter by the way. Almost completely black colour. Musty but average strength aroma of juniper, fruits and chocolate. Extremely thick taste of chocolate and tar. Oily and thick, leaves a plastic coating in the mouth. sayravai (4710) - Helsinki, FINLAND - NOV 1, 2006
UPDATED: NOV 3, 2007 (Bottled) Very dark brown with a smallish, mostly fading head. Sourish, slightly licoricey aroma with some burned malt and alcohol in the background. Smoothly licoricey flavor with roasted malt and some faint dry ashiness in the finish. Medium-bodied, velvety palate with soft carbonation. Not very interesting, but solid and balanced dunkel. With the new brewmaster (so I heard) the recipes seem to have gotten much better.
(Bottled, was 5-3-5-3-10=2.6) Very dark brown color with a large, beige, big-bubbled, lemonadey, quickly and almost completely fading head. Burned-malty, metallic and slightly sweet-sour aroma with alcohol and licorice hints. Burned, sweetish-malty flavor with an ashy, dryish and burned-malty finish. Light to medium-bodied, slightly oily ashy palate with quite low carbonation. Once again an example on how not to use color malts (give us the real ones, please!!). This one feels quite the same as Nokian Pääsiäisolut (Easter beer), except that this might be a bit more full-bodied (hard to judge, as they’re hard to sample side-by-side now :).
