Moderate frothy red beer with distinct aroma of anise. It is absolutely the old familiar candy, only in liquid form. Both the aroma, taste and aftertaste is sweet and anise and it’s a different beer that actually tastes pretty good. It can be difficult to identify where it could be used, for it is not so useful for either food or dessert. But an exciting experience. StoutHead (965) - DENMARK - FEB 20, 2013
Draught at brewery. Color is a hazy amber. Obvious and clear taste of anise, caramel and liqurice. Quite sweet and surprisingly much better than what I’d expected of such an experimental and unserious beer. [Backlog] Miksu (5053) - Jyväskylä, FINLAND - JUL 22, 2012
Draught at Copenhagen Ølfestival 2012. Hazy brown color. Aromas reminds me of cough medicine with salty licorice and anise. Sweetish flavor with lots of anise and some toffee. Feels like someone had poured cough syrup into my beer. Christian (13670) - Odense, DENMARK - JUL 16, 2012
Copenhagen Beer Festival, May 2012. Amber with a small off-white head. Loads of anise in the aroma and flavour, with just a little caramel fonefan (49293) - VestJylland, DENMARK - JUL 6, 2012

Draught @ [ Olfestival Kobenhavn 2012 ] @ Tap1, Ny Carlsbergvej 91, 1760 Copenhagen, Denmark.
Murky matt medium amber orange colour with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy more or less only kongen af danmark ( some candy drops named King of Denmark ). Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, again omore or less only kongen af danmark. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
Draft. A hazy red beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma has notes of liqurice and candy sugar, like Kongen af Danmark. The flavor is sweet with notes of liqurice and candy sugar, leading to a dry finish. If you like Kongen af Danmark, you’ll like this. thewolf (12592) - Kolding, DENMARK - JUL 4, 2012
Tap @ the brewpub. Pours murky amber with a small creamy off-white film head. Aroma has heavy Kongen af Danmark, anise, caramel, sweets, liqourice. Medium carbonation, dry and light mouthfeel. Flavour has lots of anise, but maintains some sweetness to balance. Sweet, very much like Kongen af Danmark. Extremely interesting even if I’d prefer the drops. Tap at DØE. Hazy brown colour with a small white head. Aroma and flavour of spice, malt, licorice. Rune (12753) - Tromsø, NORWAY - MAY 20, 2012
100ml, draught at Ølfestival 2012. Unclear amber, bright naked surface. Strong smell of anise and mint. Ditto taste profile. Very sweet, indeed. Like drinking the candy drops called “Kongen af Danmark”. Now and then, maybe (Copenhagen, 10.05.2012). yespr (45432) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - MAY 18, 2012
From tap. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is liqourice and dense spiced. Complete match with the danish candy of the same name. Dense liqourice and spiced herbal. Dry and bitter and spiced.
