Murky red brown color with a small, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of sherry, cognac, red wine, cognac, caramel, dark fruits, vanilla, and alcohol. Taste of vanilla, caramel malts, nuts, wine, cognac, dark fruits, and somewhat sharp alcohol.

QPours dark murky brown with an off white head. The aroma is sweet malts and boozy barrels very smooth. The flavor is smooth with sweet resiny malt notes that hit sharp on the palate.

Pours a ruddy orange brown with no head. Very portish nose with some oxidation. Lots of rich dark fruit, fig, spicy alcohol, raisiny. Some woody notes. Full bodied with a low carbonation and warming finish. Rich flavor, lots of raisin and dextrinous malt, caramel and wood with notes of leather.

Bottle. Thanks Shaun for sending and making this. Pours a muddy reddish brown, pretty much still. Fantastic nose--big fiiggy presence, dates, brown sugar, cognac. Flavor is more figs, sherry, caramelized sugar, oak, cognac. Very nice, complex barleywine.

Bottle. It’s an almost clear one, brown in color and topped by a minimal sized beige head. In fact, it’s more like a thin layer of bubbles than a head. The aroma is lovely, with dried fruits, stock, some alcohol and a touch of roasted malts. Nice bitterness in the flavor, balancing the sweetness and dried fruits. Full-bodied and warming, finishing rather bitter. A really lovely beer. 110513

Murky brown color, no head whatsoever. Aroma is thick with vanilla, oak, figs, some alcohol but not much, subtle and smooth bourbon/cognac-notes as well as some red wine. Taste is similar but without hints of booze. Extremely rich taste, ripe with cognac, figs, raisins and essential oils.
