To celebrate my 3900th rating. Bottle @ Ølbutikken, Copenhagen. Pours dark unclear brown with a small bubbly head and lacings. Nose is oak, liquorice, caramel and alcohol. Slick, oily and full bodied. Medium to low carbonation. Taste is vinous and has lots of dark fruit, prune, plum, oak, caramel and vanilla. Some warmth. A delicious and complex brew. Bottle shared by the Notorious DAK -- thank you, sir! Pours a murky amber color with no discernable head. Smells like a port. Loaded with raisins, plums, and cranberries in flavor. Has some tropical fruit notes to it as well. Dense in consistency. Nice. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - JAN 25, 2010
375, capped. Thanks, Maria! Mmm-mm. Pours a fairly clear dark brown with bright amber and toffee overtones at the edges. Dense, creamy disc of creamy tan mousse falls quickly away. Amazingly for 12%, it shows virtually no legs--beautifully consistent and stable. Big caramel apple nose, succulent and delectable. As it warms, the figs and bits of dark spice start showing through. The bottom of the bottle shows serious molasses and brown sugar on the nose. Creamy, slightly sticky, slightly oily body with a little carb that’s very soft. Caramel apples, figs, peat, green apples, roast, and molasses on the mid-palate. One big harmonious blast of strong sweet sticky flavor. Lingering sweet finish. Can’t wait to get into the rest of this series.

Bottle from plovmand. Pours a brown color with a small head. Lots of honey, almonds, bread, dates, figs, vanilla, raisins and booze. Flavor is sweet with some wood, figs, dates, raisins, caramel and a warming finish. VTHopHead (1511) - Seymour, Tennessee, USA - JAN 16, 2010
Tasting with Shaun Hill at Three Penny Taproom - Poured a medium dark reddish amber in color with a slight head that produced minor lacing on the glass. Aroma was slight of alcohol with dark fruit, light oak, vanilla and Cognac. flavor was dominated by the Cognac from the barrel with dark fruit and some woody oak mixed in. A bit of a disappointment, as I did not expect the Cognac to be so strong... bierkoning (13231) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - JAN 12, 2010
Bottle. Dark brown color. Oak, vanilla and raisin in the aroma. Oaky raisinny flavor with dried plum, cognac, vanilla and grapes. Full bodied. malty sweet and liquorish. Pipe tobacco in the aftertaste. Great beer! KimJohansen (10492) - Frederiksberg C, DENMARK - JAN 2, 2010
Hazy burgundy with a tiny beige head. Sweet aroma that had vanilla, roasted malt, chocolate and overripe fruits. Flavour was quite sweet with roasted malt, caramel and overripe fruits. Finished very sweet with warming alcohol. Maria (10212) - Thisted, DENMARK - DEC 28, 2009
It’s dark, red mahogany with a small head and the aroma is vinous with notes of raisin, malt, caramel, grapes, “fat” toffee and light wood. The flavor is sweet and vinous with notes of raisin, caramel, malt, light wood and cognac. It is very, very well balanced, incredibly nice and harmonic.
