Copenhagen 23/1 2017. 60 cl bottle from Kvickly. The typical charming bottle from Nørrebro Bryghus. Realized I should have saved this for the weekend when I saw the ABV. Pours hazy dark brown with almost no head. Look like a flat Coca Cola right after pouring. Aroma is intensely sweet. Caramel, plums marinated in sugar, port wine, a kilo of sugar and booze. Low carbonation and thick viscous palate. At this point I realize that I might be sipping this beer for a while. Flavor is intensely sweet and sugary. The bitterness is so light - it might as well be nonexistent. Aftertaste is sweet toffee with a boozy whiff. If you are into intensely sweet, thick and oily beers with an healthy ABV this might be the beer for you. nybol (1765) - DENMARK - DEC 24, 2016
En rigtig barley wine. Tyk og fyldig øl. Rigtig god til at nyde, for sig selv..... onceblind (9440) - Denver, Colorado, USA - OCT 13, 2016
2008 bottle. Hazy deep plummy Amber/brown hue with a fast evaporating head even when poured with viguor. Earthy raisin and a a boozy dark malt nose. Big flavor that’s malty and dark stone fruity, boozy, earthy and not very sweet. Just plum and boozy dark bready Barleywine and English malts. Surprisingly not very keen. glennmastrange (2859) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - OCT 4, 2016
Bottle. Heavy roasted, caramel and toffee for the malt, moderate cooked orange for the hops, moderate leather and broth for the yeast, with notes of sherry, date, brown sugar and cigarette tobacco. Head is small, fizzy, tan, with no lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is muddy dark brown. Flavor starts moderately to heavily sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes moderately to heavily sweet and moderately bitter. Palate is medium to full, syrupy with a soft to lively carbonation and a heavily alcoholic finish. A nice rich, savory and sweet Barley Wine.

Aroma fruits, wine, little acidity. Brown, foggy colour. Taste candy drops, sour. Little disappointment. ineedbeer (2148) - Oakland, California, USA - MAY 23, 2016
Poured from a 2008 vintage bottle.
Aroma is full of raisin, prune and other dried fruit. Moderately strong toffee and caramel notes with some light burnt sugar character. Hints of a woodsy hop character.
Pours a slightly hazy brown with some red hues and a small, thick, tan head that recedes to the edges and lingers. No lacing and small legs. A slight gusher (more of a foamer) on opening.
Flavor is moderately sweet with lots of caramel and some lighter toffee notes. Some raisin and prune notes. Light notes of dried cherries. Some light alcohol character. Hints of chocolate. Medium bitterness with some light woody hop notes.
Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth.
Overall, an alright barleywine and pretty nice for the age. A but flabby with some oxidation showing, but on the whole it’s nice. I’m not sure I enjoy the lingering hop character though and feel like it would be better off if it faded away completely. Frax (60) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - MAR 31, 2016
Bottle from Bacco. 2008. Pours a deep amber with no head. Barley and dough, slightly nutty aroma. Whisky flavor with honey notes. Strong malts. Whisky lingers long through the finish. Solid but unremarkable. luttonm (6169) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAR 11, 2016
2008 bottle at Uber, Seattle. Rich deep brown, lots of red, oddly fishy (?) aroma. Juile says cat food. Fortunately, tastes much better. Rich, complex, butterscotch alcohol, hits your nose. Lovely richness, delicious. Really rich, deep caramel, fudgy malt. Great. TorbenJensen (1517) - Valby, DENMARK - SEP 20, 2015
It has subtle fruity aroma. Deep fruity flavor with distinct peach, plum and dried fruits. A little caramel helps to highlight a long fruity aftertaste. Very vinous and warming. Still a little too alcoolic taste in my opinion, otherwise very good.
