English: Seven Bordeaux Barrel is a very rich Russian Imperial Stout, brewed in October 2008 by 7 of the best brewers in Denmark as a pooling of their individual recipes for the beer. After primary fermentation, this fraction of the brew was racked into an American oak barrel from a Bordeaux winery. After 7 (!) months in the barrel, the beer is intensely complex, full bodied with protruding vanilla, oaky and roasted aromas and flavours. Bitter, dry and smooth on the palate with a long vanilla aftertaste.

UPDATED: SEP 24, 2011 Tasty. Big oak, vanilla, bourbon, Bordeaux, tannins, cocoa. Again very dry. Flavor is a little sharper than the nose, but still very woody and dry overall. Great balance and a very well crafted ale. Was lucky enough to have this awesome beer twice. Thanks Shaun. Even better this time with a bigger pour. Yum.

A damn fine beer, I would drink it until my liver gave way. Nothing offensive at all, just beer bliss. Would get again fo sho. hot damn wine barrels are under utilized, really adds a ton to this beer. very nice and acidic.

Bottle. Pours an intense black color with a bubbly dark tan head. Vinous notes in the aroma with a very roasty presence as well as chocolate and some woodiness. Wood, vanilla, some very bitter roasted malts some faint sweetness, pretty dry and lots going on here. Rich and luscious body, viscous. Just absolutely superb.

Flaske: Åbner med et lille psst. Fin karbonering alt taget i betragtning. God duft af bourbon med en anelse kaffe. Meget afbalanceret smag med dominans af boubon, men også en smule karamelmalt anes, men ikke for sød. Rigtig dejlig øl.

This is consumed as a celebration of our newborn son, Jonas! Cheers to you, Jonas
Pours utterly black with a short, creamy, dark brown head. Settles as a thin film. Aroma is vinious, lots of red wine character, plums, fabulous oaky tartness, some black currants, roasted, hints of chocolate with plums in madeira. Small bubbles with a medium carbonation, fat and oily mouthfeel with some clear oaky dryness. Flavour is wonderfully complex. First impressions are wonderfuly oaky, some fruity notes, lots and lots of hard roasted malts. Finish is elegantly vinious without ever getting alcohol-heavy. This is impressively easily drinkable. Aftertaste has lots of dark chocolate and freshly ground coffee. Wonderful choice for a Birth-Beer!

375 ml bottle; thanks Tom!! Side by side with the Niepoort version; dense black with rich, thick chocolate colored head; bourbon, oak and red grapes; flat, smooth drinking with lots of bitter red wine notes; dry and bitter finish; not quite as creamy as the Niepoort version and I think the port is more my thing; mild level of astringency in the finish as well; like the nose a little more here though
