Bottled - entered and drunk again to celebrate my rating number 19,900. A pitch black beer with a lazing dark brown head. The aroma has strong notes of roasted malt, chocolate, alcohol, and wine, as well as lighter notes of wood and soy sauce. The flavor is sweet though with a slight acidic edge from the roasted malt and with notes of roasted malt, wood, chocolate, wine, and some alcohol, leading to a very dry, woody, and alcoholic finish. joergen (28456) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - SEP 14, 2009

Bottled (thanks brunnsbe!). Black colour, small brown head. Aroma is mild wine, some coffee as well as some slight alcoholic notes. Rather wooden as well. Flavour is quite much the same with very big time coffee and vanilla towards the finish and aftertaste. A bit sweet, otherwise a really nicely balanced barrel aged brew. Bottled. Very black, dark brown head. Oaky licorice and vanilla aroma. Lots of milk chocolate and caramel. Sweet and soft, full bodied. Warming and pleasant. Rich on licorice and chocolate, accompanied by a light touch of red wine. Papsoe (25062) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - SEP 13, 2009
Bottle 37,5 cl. Pours a thick pitch black with a light brown head. Lovely wooden aroma and loads of burned, char-like malts. Full-bodied, very solid base of burned black malts, char-like and ashy. Astrigently burned malty finish. 130909 madmitch76 (25009) - , Essex, ENGLAND - JUN 9, 2012

Opaque black beer. Short chocolate coloured head. Soft palate, fairly dry. Rich dark malt. Dark unsweet chocolate and coffee. Undertone of plummy fruits, minerals and spice. The red wine is subtle and somewhat out muscled by the Impy Stout characteristics. Gets a little more winey as it warms up. Hangs together pretty well.
