Danish: En meget fyldig Russian Imperial Stout på 12% alk. Den er brygget i oktober 2008 af 7 af de bedste bryggere i Danmark, som en blanding af de 7 bryggeres egne opskrifter af øllen. Efter gæring har denne øl lagret 7 måneder på portvins fade fra vores venner i Niepoort. Resultatet er en meget fyldig øl, præget af portvinens sødme. Både duft og smag er domineret af druer, portvin, kaffe, chokolade og ristet lakrids. Kroppen opleves silkeblød, medium sød, og der følger en varm, lang eftersmag.

English: Seven Niepoort Barrel is a very rich imperial stout, brewed in October 2008 by 7 of the best brewers in Denmark by a pooling of their individual recipes for the beer. After primary fermentation, this fraction of the brew was racked into a port wine barrel from our friends at Niepoort. After 7 (!) months in the barrel, the beer is intensely full bodied, with rich port like sweetness. The aroma and flavour is dominated by ripe grapes, port, coffee, chocolate and liquorice roast characters. Silky smooth and full palate with a medium sweet, warming and long aftertaste.

Thanks to NoLiberty for cracking this open via Shaun E. Hill... Appears a dark midnight with a small brown cap that seems to float forever. Spotty bits of lacing are left around the glass. Smell is of wood, cocoa, coffee, mineral water, dark bakers chocolate, mild roast, very mild hint of port. There’s also notes of yeasty bread ala freshly baked Portugese rolls. Taste is of the mentioned aromas with an obvious nod to the wood and roasty grains. Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied, slightly bitter, chewy, with a delicate finish.

375ml bottle poured into a Teku. A~ dark with a crazy red hue with a little carb and a little lacing. S~ tons of red wine and sweet berries up front mixed with some nice roasted burnt coffee. T~ super well rounded and balanced! follows the nose with roasted burnt coffee all blended with a rush of sweet berry like wine and dark fruits. that European style stout! M~ pretty much no carb but so smooth! O~ once again with this Niepoort barrel!! it really worked well with this stout base. could drink all day! too bad i’ll never find another haha! another Shaun Hill brew.

Flaske 375ml spandert av Rune. Delt med ham & Richard i WCveien 8 Okt 16. Svart. 0 skum. Lett læraroma. Smaken sammensatt. Mest plommer. Litt tørr etter hvert. Læraroma. Tørr - lett alkoholisk - avslutning. Klumpsedimenter.

Rune (13720) - Tromsø, NORWAY - OCT 25, 2016
375ml bottle stored for quite a few years in my cellar. Bought at Nørrebro Brygghus, shared with Richard and Finn. Low, tan-coloured head. Deep black body with a rustic shade. Scattered lacing. Smell of dark bread, liquorice and oak. Berry fruits and dark malts with coffee and liquorice come together very well to the flavour profile. Port-like impression. Long-lived, warming finish. Full bodied. Velvety smooth on the swallow. Excellent slow sipper (Tromsø 08.10.2016).

Bottle shared at Scopey’s 10K, many thanks to Leighton. Black with a small bubbly tan head. Aroma is dark chocolate, redcurrant, port and booze. Nice. Body is medium, tingly carbonation, smooth. Taste is dark chocolate, meaty, molasses, pretty dry into the finish. A bit more meaty and oxidised than the red wine version. But great nonetheless.

37.5 bottle shared at Paul’s 10k tasting, London. It pours a dark brown color with an almost black with small beige head. Aroma is sweet boozy rum raisins red fruits vanilla chocolate. Taste is sweet boozy vanilla chocolate red fruits. Full bodied with ok carbonation. Overall, nice

UPDATED: OCT 10, 2017 Bottle shared in London during Paul’s 10k - picked this up in a trade, many thanks to Anders! (Drank in November 2015) Pours oily black with a frothy brown head. Lots of aged dark fruits in the aroma, roast, a little ash, chocolate. Medium sweet flavor with lots of rich baking cocoa, scorched earth, raisins, burnt wood, old leather. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation. Nice ashy roast on the finish, hearty bittersweet baking cocoa, dried dark fruits, warming alcohol. Wonderful depth, nice assertive dark chocolate character. Excellent.

Scopey (16225) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 26, 2015
Bottle darkest brown with a mall tan head. The nose is rich, oily, bitter-sweet, stewed berry, fruit compote, very jammy, port wine, wood, light marmite and touch of vanilla. The taste is bitter, rich, oily, chewy malt, charred wood, chewy malt, dark chocolate, umami, jammy berry, fruit compote and warming alcohol with a dry, warming finish. Medium - full body and fine carbonation. Has aged gracefully. Good depth and very well-rounded. Rather nice!

Bottle split at Scopey 10K, big thanks to LKS, 26/11/15. Black with decent tan Edgework. Nose is bitter dark fruits, earthy, fruit cake, port barrel, dark malt, Chocolate, light spice. Taste comprises rich fruit cake, dates, spice, booze tunes, port, red berry linger, cocoa rub. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with light warming alcohol and a decent barrelled edge. Has held up well.

Bottle. Dark brown pour with a kaki head. Chocolate, dark roasted malt, and cherry aromas. Sour notes? Dark bitter roasted malts. Barrel and cherry?? Average body and mouthfeel.
