English: a sour Belgian style brown ale. The base beer was a Belgian Brune, brewed in September 2008 by the Master Brewer Class of 2008/09 at the Scandinavian School of Brewing. The finished beer was then allowed to age for 10 months in a Spanish Tempranillo barrel with multiple strains of Brettanomyces and Lactobacillus, resulting in a pleasantly sour, extremely complex, smooth beer with significant oaky, winey and barnyard flavours. Malt and caramel notes on the palate and a clean, crisp and fruity finish.

Bottle. I initially sampled this at the Stockholm Beer & Whiskey fest in September 2009, then split a bottle with my cousin on one subsequent occasion. Pours murky brown, topped with a thin off-white head. Musty, very funky aroma with sour cherry and mild spice. Palate is similar to aroma with lots of musty, earthy character with notes of wild yeast, sour cherry, and wood. Finishes tart. Very nice.

Unclear reddish brown of color with a beige head. An aroma of red berries, oak, sour, dry and weak acid. A flavor of wood, dry, sour, red berries, spice, dry raisins, weak metallic hints.

Bottled (bottled June 2009)
Murky brown color, small off-white head. Sour fruity, woody-earthy aroma. Medium-bodied, actually quite for this ABV. Tartness, fruits (grapes, strawberry), red wine barrel tannines, earth in the flavor. A bit too cellary, otherwise quite drinkable (not excessive sourness).

Bottled. Hazy amber colour, small slightly off-white head. Aroma is fruits, sour wood, some spices and mild farmyard. Flavour is fruits, sour wood, mild vanilla and some mild caramel. Though a short texted rating, very complex and rather nice sour beer, not all too far from the lambic sourness, although something slight lacks for that. A brilliant sour ale anyways!

Smells of sour apples and vinegar. Perfect carbonation. Oaky and winey and vinegary. Tastes like a viking ship coming home.

garza (574) - Oslo (NO), Caracas (VE), VENEZUELA - JUL 20, 2010
Brown cloudy colour. Some citrus and fruity aroma. Lightly bitter, and some small acidity but with a great caracter. Medium body, soft carbonation, long finish. Medium-short after taste.

5th March 2010. Pre ZBF. Think this was courtesy of Madsberg - cheers Mads! Cloudy amber beer. Woody nose. Dry palate. Pleasantly tart - some mellow malty toffee. Dry finish. Pleasant sour!

stobbe74 (3790) - DENMARK - JUL 3, 2010
Sampled at DØE Beerfestival 2010, TAP1. Pours a muddy brown beer with a weak offwhite head. The aroma is acidity, tart and fruit. The flavor follows the nose closely. The palate is sweetness with some fruit. Overall a good and complex beer.

375 ml bottle; thanks Tom!! After 6 straight imperial stouts, this was quite the change; muddy orange with foamy white head; apricots, oak, vanilla, oranges and small level of acidity; light texture and a little vinegary to me; apricots, light orange and white sugar; pretty yummy
